To whom it may concern,
Thank you for submitting the plans for the new building. The plans have been carefully
reviewed by a qualified code enforcement official to examine for compliance with the
North Carolina Fire Prevention Code and all other fire protection regulatory documents.
There are some items that were found during the plan review process that need to be
addressed before a final inspection of the new facility can be given. These items are
outlined and described below.
• Comments
o The required fire flow for this building is 1500gpm. (3,448sf&Type VB)
o Show existing fire hydrant(s) on site plan and submit an amended site
plan.
• 506.1 Knox Box
o A Knox Box is required to be installed on the building. Please see the link
below to order Knox box. Paper order form available upon request.

• 505.1 Address Numbers
o The physical address shall be installed on the building so that it is visible
from the approach side contrasting color and a minimum size of 6 inch.
• 906.1 Fire Extinguishers required.
o A minimum 2A10BC classification of fire extinguisher is required on each
floor and located so that the maximum travel distance to reach an
extinguisher does not exceed 75ft.
o Fire Extinguishers shall be located in approved cabinets along corridors
and hallways.
o All fire extinguishers shall be mounted not higher than 5ft. above the
finished floor and in accordance with NFPA 10.

• 1006 Illumination emergency power.
o In the event of power supply failure, an emergency electrical system shall
automatically illuminate corridors, exit enclosures in buildings required to
have two or more exits.o Install emergency light/exit combinations in corridor, per life safety plan.
o Install directional exit signs on back corridor per the life safety plan.
• 1021.2 Single Exits
o A second means of egress is required where travel distance exceeds 75 ft.
(See table 1021.2) Resubmit plans with an additional remote exit.
• Comments
o A final fire inspection is required.
o Schedule all fire inspections through the Fire Marshal's Office.
