Harnett Count -y, North Carolina Tear Mr. Kyraolaina: On May 11, 2010 a representative. of Jordan -Tew observed the proposed building pad at the above referred lot. Water was observed at the 3 toot level. Jordan - Tew recommends the installation of a 4 foot square 6 foot deep drainage pit at the back of the building pad filled with 6 feet of # 57 stone and covered with ,./W W rip rap. Two 3 foot drainage ditches shall be constructed under the pad to '� drain into tha it. The i p pipe in each ditch wi be placed on 6 inches of sand and then covered with an addition 29 inches of the same material. In addition the footings is to be ut one toot deeper backfilled with # 57 stone with a 4 inch drain pipe incorporated into the stone. Jfl AVELY July 19, 2010 South -scan Construction 3128 Gold Dust Lane Willow Springs, NC 27592 Re: Plan 0909 -329 Lot 399 Bert, As per your request, I am writing to provide clarity to notes 4 and 5 on our product placement plans. Note #4 reads: lateral bracing is required along bottom flanges of 851's at 8' oc If rigid sheathing is not applied. This note simply addresses the stability of the joists. If you do not apply sheathing on top of the joists, they would need the bottom chord braced to prevent the joist from rolling over. We see this a lot in attic storage areas where the sheathing is not fastened to the top of the joists. Therefore, the joists would need bracing. This is accomplished by applying drywall or strapping to the bottom flange. Note #5 reads: " BSI's spaced 24 "oc shall have adequate subfloor to insure stiffness between joists. An 1 -1/8" subfloor is recommended for 24" oc." The key in the note is "recommended" . Table R503.1 in the 2009 International Residential code requires a thickness of 3/4" subfloor thickness for joists spaced at 24" on center. However, there are floor covering manufacturers that may need a stiffer floor for their product performance. In those cases the 1 -1/8" subfloor may be necessary. These notes are taken from the Engineered Wood Product manufacturer's literature. They are Intended as guidelines for proper installation of the [-Joists.
