HARNETT COUNTY OF COMMISSIONERS
Minutes of Special Meeting, (Workshop)
August 14, 2002
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Wednesday,
August 14, 2002, in the Commissioners Meeting Room, County Administration
Building, 102 East Front Street, Lillington, North Carolina.
Members present: Teddy J. Byrd, Chairman
Beatrice Bailey Hill, Vice Chairman
Walt Titchener
Commissioners Andrews and McNeill were absent.
Guests present: Dr. Bruce Blackmon
Ashley Stewart
J.W. Walker
Herman Tyson
Chairman Byrd called the meeting to order at 11:45 a.m.
Dr. Blackmon discussed the effect annexation has on the budget and operation of rural
fire departments such as Buies Creek Fire Department. Following discussion, it was
suggested that Dr. Blackmon work with other volunteer departments to development a
group which would meet with the League of Municipalities to discuss the issue.
There being no further business, the Board of Commissioners' workshop, August 14,
2002, adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
