Dear Mr. Dewar,
A soils evaluation, performed by soils auger, was completed on the above referenced lot on May
22, 2014. The property is located on the south side of Chalybeate Springs Road as shown on the
accompanying map. The purpose of the evaluation was to determine the ability of the soils to
support a subsurface waste disposal system for initial and repair for a three bedroom house for lot
7B and repair areas for lots 7A and 7C. The lot 7B is to be served by public water. All ratings
were done in accordance with "Laws and Rules for Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems,
15A NCAC 18A.1900" .
The lot 713 contains adequate area for initial and repair for a three bedroom house (60 X 60).
Lots 7A and 7C contain adequate area for repair of the existing systems. Typical soils are twelve
or more inches of sandy loam over sandy clay loam to sandy clay for thirty inches or more. The
lots may include the use of conventional, at- grade, accepted, innovative, LPP, or a pump, etc.
Soil characteristics were dominantly provisionally suitable to at least thirty-six or more inches
(including .1940,.1941,.1942,.1943,.1944 and .1945). A typical long term acceptance rate for
these soils and systems is .3 -.4 gpd/sq.ft for conventional and accepted gravelless systems, and
.15 -.2 gpd/sq.ft for LPP.
This report does not guarantee or represent approval or issuance of permits as needed by the
client from the local health department. This report only represents my professional opinion as a
licensed soils scientist. Permits will only be issued if the local health department staff concurs
