Dr.J.W.Halford Supt.of Health,Presented his monthly report,same was ordered filed. J.B.Lanier Sheriff,Presented his monthly report,same was ordered filed. Petition signed by W.A.Page & others asking for the establishment of a public road from top of Stephens Creek Hill on east side by W.J.Brcwn W.A.Page & others,to Township line near DougaldMoeuleys,said petition granted and said road laid out according to law,with no ex- pense to County. On hearing petition signed by W.D.Boyd & others asking for an extension of the public road known as the Summerville and Norval road from Norval Post Office in a western direction leading as the public road now leads by the Harrington Mill to the Pee Dee Road opposite the W.J.Kelly place,said petition acoepted and ordered advertised according to law. Ordered that Norris Stewart,be allowed $10.for keeping Matthew Monroe for one month. Ordered that M.R.Morgan,be allowed $39.90 for keeping County Home for one month. Ordered that J.E.Elliott,be allowed $2. for letting and receiving McNeills bridge on L.L.R. Ordered that John McArtan,be allowed $19.50 for repairing Andersons Creek bridge,on the 101.111 road. Ordered that J.A.Green,be allowed $10.50 for repairing bridge on Black Smith Creek. Ordered that E.S.Smith,be allowed $75.for part payment on repairing Stewart's Creek Bridge. Ordered that C.D.Stewart,be allowed $20.for repairing Cedar Creek Bridge. Ordered that C.D.Stewart,be allowed $68.22 for building bridge across Daniels Creek. Ordered that W.J.Smith,be allowed $25.49 for building bridge on Mill Creek and Bridge on Branch. Ordered that A.Y.Tutor,be allowed $7.for taking care of Hectors Creek Bridge. s 70 Monday September?r 1908, Continued. J.N.Smith having been appointed Constable in Aversboro Township to fill the unexpired time of H.B.Andereon filed his bond in the sum of $500.with J.G.Johnson as surety said bond was accepted and ordered recorded: said Smith took and subscribed to the oath before G.K.Grantham Chm.of Board and was duly inducted into office. Ordered that H.C.Stewart and D.P.McDonald and they are hereby appointed committee to let out Lillington Ferry. Whereas the law provides that this Board shall fix the rate of compensation for such con- victs as shall be sentenced to work on any of the roads of Harnett County, It is ordered that the rate of compensation for such convicts be and the same is hereby fixed at the sum of Eight Dollars per month. Ordered by::the Board that Breham Respass be and he is hereby elected Advising and Inspect- ing Engineer for the County in the matter of the construction of the Two Bridges across Cape Fear River,and that his salary shall be $100 per month for such time as he may be employed in such work. Ordered that for the purpose of investigating the damages done by the recent floods to the several bridiges of the County; order that the Cape Fear River Bridges of the County be divi- ded into five divisions and assigned to the.seWeral Commissioners as follows.
