Whereas the general Assembly of North, Carolina at its extra session in 1913 , passed an act entitled " An Act to incorporate Coats Graded Scheel of Coats Harnett County, and alow it to vote on a special tax to issue bonds, said bill Being House bill 53 and Senate Bill u01; And Whereas the said Act directs the board of County Comissioners of Harnett County to call an Election upon a petition or writ- ten re uest of the trustees of said School District, And Whereas the said board of trustees of the Coats Graded School District have organized and# passed a resolution, requesting the county comissioners to call an Election in said district for the purpose of voting on of Twelve thousand Dollar (f12000.00)bond issue for a school building in sad district; And whereas there is filed before thdsboard a certain re.,ues and petition by the board of trustees of said school requesting to call said Election, Now , Therefore be it resolved be it resolved; 1st that an election be held in the Coats Graded School District. as pro- vided for in W.B. 53 and S.B. 201 of the acts of the General Assembly at its extra session in 1913 for th purpose ofa submitting to the qualified voters of said district the question of issuing Twelve Thousand Dollars in Bonds for a School Building. 2nd; that said election be held on the 17th d y of Feb. 1914, at the School House in said District. North Carolina Harnett County To The Honorable Board of County Comissioners of Harnett County • The Petition of the undersigned citizens of Harnett County Averasboro Township, Respectfully showeth to your Honorable board that $,t M, the said Petitioners desire to have laid out and established a public road from the Cema on the South West Edge of Dunn .;.nd running due West Crossing the lands of Henry Pope K.L. Howard J.N. Smit D.T. Pope- and --J.H. Pope with the old cart path to the Taylor old ford on black xiver, and from said ford ru ning due West with the said old cart path crossiong the lands of J.H. rope Tom Hamiltons U.E. minces and godwins to the public road near the School house on the Duke and Fayettville road.The said New road would uf great usefulness and convenience to your petitioners and the public for the following reasons , several good nd substatial farmers live on the 'Vest side of black River and as a matter of fact when they desire go to Dunn, they $i4j /j either h ve to goaround by uaineys bridge or else go by uodwins bridge which is three to four miles put of the w y, this section of the county is located about half way between thetwo a described-bridges and is very inconveinient for the Farmers of this section to get to market. by the esta -hment of the said new road it would give them a direct course to Dunn and put them in easy touch with the market and shorten the distance of tr vel more than half. all of the persons whose the said road would pass had twenty days notice of the intention of the undersigned to file this petition. lour petitioners , theref pray the board to 'order the sheriff to summon a jury of three free holders to lay out and establish betwe the points named the said road to the! greatest advantage of the inhanitants and with as little predudice as may be to the lands and enclosures over which the same passes and to assess such damages as private pers may sustain and report their proceedings to the next meeting of thd$ board. and your petitioners would ask further orders from the board which may be necessary, to the end that the aforesaid raad may be laid out established: this 31 day uf Dec 1913. signed H.C.
