02071916Monday,February 7th.,1916. The Board of County Commislioners met in regular Session: Present, D.H.Senter,Chm., L.D. Burwell ,E.H.Gardner,A.A.Shaw,and J.B.Holiand,Comrnissioners,and J.W.Wilson,County Atty. W.P.Byrd,Clerk of Court,presented to the Board the name of J.B.Hol.land,of Averasboro Township,as his appointee to take the place of H:N.Bizzell,Com'r. whose resignation was offered t� the Board and accepted at the last meeting .Mr.Holland duly took the several Oaths prescribed. by law,and was installed as Commissioner. Mr.T.B.IsioLeod,one of the Road Commissioners of Upper Little River Township offered his resignation to the Board,and same was accepted. 14r.McLeod stating that his health would not permit his performing the required duties l.omger. htr. lij.Patterson,of Upper Little River Township,was appointed to fill the vacancy as Road Cd,runissioner caused by the resignation of Mr. T.B.McLeod. The matter of appropriation for the Lillington Farm Life School was taken up;and after oring a number of citizens in favor of same,and after due consideration and discussion of #f E.fe, a motion was offered by L.D.Burwell to appropriate $1500.00 to the maintainance of the :Li "_'_ington Farm Life School for the Year 1916, sane was seconded by A.A.Shaw; Those voting in favor ()lithe motion were: L.D.Burwe11,A.A.Shaw,and J.B.Holland; Those voting against were: D.H. Senter and E.H.Gardner. The sane was declared carried. The following Petition for Special Tax School Election was received: "Petition for a Special Tax Election" To the Board Of County Comiai gr—oners of "Harnett County: We,the undersigned free holders,in whose name the real estate is listed in the tax lists of the current fiscal year,in the County "of Harnett,constituting one fourth of such persons in the pro- posed Special School District,includedi in'the following Boundaries to wit: Beginning at a point where the Dunn and Lillington Public 'Road crosses Stewart Creek,thence about West with the path by W.C.Tanner's and J.B.Parker's with the line of District /1 5,by the G.A.Johnson Place -and to W.R.Aven$r's,thence with the Path to the Dunn and Lillington Road rear the W.J.Hodges old place, then with said Road to Nora McKay Place,then about North with the Wire Road to the line of District /''7,then with that line to Coats District ff 3,then with that line crossing the Stage Road at S.N. Williams old place,and crossing Stewart's Creek to the Ridge Path,then down Bald Path to the old Adkin Path,then with said Path to W.H.Turlington's old Mill Place,then down Stewart's Creek to the beginning,leaving out W.G.Turner. Respectfully petition your Honorable Board for an election under section 4115 School Law, to ascertain the will of the People within the proposed Special School district,whether there shall be levied in said District a special annual Tax of not more that .20 cehts on the $100.00 valuation of property,and .60 cents'on the Poll,to supplement the Public School fund,which may be apportioned to said district by the County Board of Educa.tion,in case such special Tax is voted. School District #8 The following Petition was received from the citizens of /Upper Little River Twp.: " To the Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County, We the undersigned free- holderslf the County of Harnett constituting one- fourth of the Free- holders inthe Proposed Special School District included within the following Bound- aries to wit: The same as Boundaries of District # 8,Upper Little River Township,as follows: Beginning at head of Jones Creek on Lillington and Jonesboro Road,down said Creek against head of Walkers Creek,thesidown said creek to Northington Road,thence up said Road to McDougald Road,then along McDougald Road to Ford on Duncan's Creek,thence up said Creek to the Head . From Head of Creek over to Watery Branch,thence down said Branch to Fish Creek,and then up this Creek to its head,from head of Fish Creek to White Oak Slash Branch,thence along this to Stephens Creek,thence down this Creek to Campbells Creek,thence up this Greg to Reedy Prong Branch,thence up this Branch to its Head,then from head of thfs Branch to the Beginning.
