The undersigned Registrar and Pell holders $% beg leave to amke the following report of the Special Election Held in Lillington Township, at which time the question of issuing Rail Road Aid Bonds was submitted to the qualified voters of/ said Township. Your Registrar and B.A. Parker Poll Holder met at Sunrise and Mr J.M. Stewart,the other Poll holder appointed by you was not present, whereupon your registrar swore in Mr J.B. Tugwell to act as Poll holder instead of J.M. Stewart an hour or two afterwards sr J.B. Tugwell resigned as Poll holder and We, selected mr E.E. Parker who was duly sworn and acted as Registrar for the Election and We, your Registrars and poll holders beg leave to make the following report of the said Election We held said Election in a ccordanc with law and the following is the result of the same.Number of Qualified Voters Registered One Hundred and ninty(190) number of voted cast for rail road aid bonds ins hundred and ten (110) Number of voted oast against rail road aid bonds Fifty Eight (58) number of voters not voting twenty two (22) To The honorable Board of County Comissioners of O.L. Parker Poll Holders Oct lat 1917 North Carolina Harnett County Neils Creek Township To the board of County Comissioners of Harnett County: We the undersigned registrar and poll holders in accordance with the resolutions of the county eomieaioners and notice of special Election for Neills Creek Township wher the question of issuing Rail Road Aid Bonds was submitted to the Quali- fied voters of said township on the 11 th day of September 1917, beg leave to report to your Honorable board that We, held the said Election in accordance with law and the following is the result of the same Number of Qualified voters registered two hundred and four (204) Humber of votes oast for Rail read aid bonds One hundred and five (105) Bomber of Votes oast against rail road aid bonds Ninty Five (95) Number of votes not voting Four (4) N.A. Johnson Poll Holders Oct is -t 1917 Election report from Grove Not carried North Carolina Harnett County At aregular meeting of the Bard of Comissioners of Harnett County held on the first day of October 1917 there was reported to-the Board the returs of the special Election of Lillington Township of Said County, held by the Registrar/ and Poll holders heretofore appointed said Election having been held for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said Township the question of issuing rail road aid bonds to be exchanged for Capital Stock of the Central Carolina Rail Road Company in the sum of Twenty Thousand Dollars in accordance with resolution adopted by this Board August 6th 1917 And Whereas the returns have been paloed in the hands of this board, and the same having been canvassed, and the Registration and Poll books having been inspected, and this board finding the said Election to have been regulary and legally conducted, and futher finding that in Qualified voters were registered and that votes oast against Rail Road Aid the said Township - votes were oast for rail road aid bonds Bonds and that there were - Registered voters noting voting; We therefore deolare the said Election to be carried in favor of Rail Road Aid Bonds by a majority of Votes Be It Resolved therefore by the board that the returns of the Registrars and Poll Holders Of said Township be spreddupon the minutes of Skid this board meeting; and that thi said Election be declared carried for rail road aid bonds in said Lillington Township to the amount of twenty thousand dollars this let day of October 1917 Chairman of the 71'- 10/g Clerk to the Board board of county comissioners of Harnett County North Carolina Harnett County At aregular meeting of the board of Cemissionera of Harnett County held on the Fist day of October 1917, there were reported to the Board the returns of the special Election of Neills Creek Township of said County held by the Reg- istrars and poll holdres heretofore appoi nted, said Election havin en held for the purpose of submitting to the qualified votersof said township the question of ng rail road aid bonds to exchanged for capital stook of the fill /j% %yi$ Central Carolina Rail ?t® mpany in the sum of Twenty five thousand Dollars in accordance with resolution adopted by t#} sr rd August 6th 1917 And Whereas the returns have been plaoed in the hands of this board snd,the sadi4. having been,oanvassed and the re - gistratien and poll books having been inspected and thi's'bbard finding the said election o have been xe ular and legally conducted; and futher finding that in thid Township a u Qualified vors were registered and that /OS votes were cast for Rail Roa Aid Bonds 9 or--- votes were oast against Rail Road Bonds, and that there were d ��/ f/ %4% /registered voters not voting; Re, therefore declare the said Election to be carried in favor of Rail Road Aid Bonds by a Majority of ✓aLe Votes; Be It Resolved, Therefore by the board that the returns of the Registrars and Poll Holders/1 of said Township be spread upon the minutes of this board Meeting; and that the said Election be declared carried for rail read aid bonds in said Neills Creek Township to the Amount of Twenty Five Thousand Dollars This 1st day of October 1917 Chairman of the jll Board of county Comissioners of Harnett County Clerk to the Board Resolved that the County Auditor be instructed to deliver to William H.Turiington Sheriff the tax Books for the Year 1917 and take therefore his receipt That Bond of Wm H. Resolved that the Board borrow from Bank of Lillington for 30 days 0000.00 to take care of orders allowed. Ordered that Alex Pegarm Col be allowed 46, per quarter ,3s cFlore Minutes Continued Ordered that A.M. Sbaw Auditor sell the cans on hand if he can get cost and interest. Moved tah Chas Ross be allowed to make contract with Roast Line R.R. Co for the imediate building of the Overhead Bridge at Olivia in Accordance with an order heretofore made with the Corporation or to accept in Lieu therof a wooden bridge to ,be built at the entire cost of the Rail Road Company so log as the same may meet the requirements of Public traffic. Ordered that John McCormick be releived from Poll taxes for this year and permantly / /U /1t Ordered that A.M. Shaw Auditor get a complete list of Dog tax due each Township and report let Monday October 1917. Ordered taht L.D4 Arnold be allowed $22.50 for keepin Worthington Ferry Ordered tat Mrs J.R. Mason be allowed $3, per month for the surport of her children. Oberby the Following resolution was unanimously adopted; Resolved by the Board of Comissioners of Harnett County, that We, learned with deep regret, of the sad berievement of our fellow Member Mr R.T. Johnson, in the loss of his wife since our last meeting. We express to Mr Johnson our profound sympathy in this hour of trial and commend to him all the consolations afforded by the Christian with. We pay% our tribute to the noble and generous life of the good woman who has been trent - planted to a better world.Realizing that while her loss to Mr Johnson to his Childredyl and to the oomun- ity in which she lived seems at this time % fl$' so greivious, that the memory of her bright and cheerful disposition, and her Godly deeds will remain an everlasting blessing to those who were privileged to know her.
