Report of L.M.Chaffin on School Budget Matter. To the Board2s of Commissioners and Board of Education of Harnett County: On Monday, July 7th. 1924, you asked me to act as Arbitrator upon the issues arising over a disagreement as to the School Budget for the = ession of 1924.1925. After cont ference with members of both boards I fcupd that the disagreement was over the Operating and Equipment Fund Only, and that the two Boars had reached an agreement as to the Palary Fund ,nd the Fund Necessary to pay interest and Installments on Bonds, notes and Loans. Under Section 187 of Chapter 136 of the Public Laws of 1923, which is the section that provides the procedure in case of a disagreement between the gourd of Education and the Board of County Commissioners as to the School Budget, the Clerk of the Superior Court is called upon to act as Arbitrator upon the issues arising as to the Salary -Ound and the Fund necessary to pay interest and Installments on Bonds. Notes and Loans. Since there is no disagreement as to these two items in the Budget, and which two are the obby Items upon which the Clerk of the Superior Court can be called upon to act as Arbitrator, I resoectfully report to you that I have no decision to make and the matter is returned to you to be proceeded with according to law. Respectfully, L.M.Chaffin, C.S.C. o1�s-/ 4W BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County approve the County School r Budget for the year 30247$5 for the tptaj, sues of $30,009.00.pver and above and- -in addition,v </ to the total sum of the County School Budget for the year 1923 -24 as submitted to and approved by this Board; And that only one half of the purchase price of not more than twelve trucks is to be igcl #ded in the 00,000.00 increase in the budget, the remainder of the purchase price of said trucks_to be paid for by notes of this board to be due during the fall of 1925. The Commissioners then adjourned until July 29th,.' for the purpose of receiving bids on the bonds of Long Branch School District. Jas. A.
