The Board was called to order by the Chairman, and the minutes were
read and approved:
It is ordered that the Umber* of this board meet with the School
Board on May 26, 1930, at 9:00 O'clock A. M.

It is ordered that the property listed in Name of J. L. & I. W. Smit
in Stewart's Creek Township be released of taxes 1929 and all prior years,

Grove Township be released upon the payment of the Taxes of $18.70 on 52 acres,

poll tax.
It is ordered that the rani Estate listed in name of Lewis MoLean,Sr.
Stewlat s Creek Township, be reduced from $1000.00 to $500.00 on 50 acres of
Mr. J. C. Byrd, one of the assessors fee above named townships having appeared
before the Commissioners in Person be received concerningnthe
acsessors report of 1927,
value of this land at the time the assessors made their report.
It is ordered that the department of Convervation & Development be
alit to use the unexpended Appropriation for the purpose of buying Saps
to be used by the Wardens.

It is ordered that on appropriation be made of $ for the purpos

It is ordered that the bill presented by Moore County for James
Stewart be refused.
• It is ordered that the following ransfers of monies be made.
475.00 from Convict Camp to County Jail. $12004 from Convict Camp to Oourtho as
200.00 from Educations om County too lection.l$3000..00 from Superior Court
to election. 43500.
• It is orderedihat the expenses of the Confederate Tererans of
Harnett County be defrayed to National Convention to be held in Biloxi, Miss.
on June 3- to 7th, 1930.
• It is ordered that RL G. B. Shaw, Tax Oolleotor for Harnett County
be ordered to proceed with the sale of all real estate upp► which the 1929
taxes have not been paid for the amount of taxes now due on said real estate.

WHEREAS, taxes have become burdensome in Harnett County and the tax
payere of Harnett County are demanding a reduction in the taxes and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of County Commissioners of
Harnett County to reduce taxes for the year 1930 -31. Be it, therefore, roans
by tho Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County that the various doper, en
of Harnett County be requested and urged to, in preparing their budgets for th
year 1930-31, 000perate with the Board of County Commissioners and the heads o
the various departments of Harnett County are requested and urged to assist
the Board 04 0Ounty Commissioners by cutting their budgets to the lowest possi 14
figure and taking the minimum for expenses and salaries for the year 1930 -31 . d
that the county tax rate may be lowered.
BE it further resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Harnet
County that the tax payers of the county be requested tocall upon and urge the

various school Committees and trustees for the various school districts in said
county that the said Committee andirustee, in preparing their budgets for special
sohool taxes, out the same to the lowest minimum possible and =that the school
Committeemen and trustees have the Board of County Commissioners to ascertain
from the patrons and tax payers of their respective sbhool'distriots their
wishes in regard to the expenditure for sbbool purposes and other expenditures in
which a tax has to be levied by the County Commissioners to'pay same.
Be it further resolved by the Board of County Commissioners that _a copy
of these resolutions be deliverbd to the heads of the various departments of
Harnett County and a copy be furnished to the newspapers of said county. that tte
tax payers in said county may e*kpress themselves with regard to the dxpenditures
of mohey which -must be paid by the taxrpayers.

the Board of Commissioners met in "Call Session" with the following
members present: W. C. Lowdermilk, T. R. Rosser, C. EL Pope, and Stuart
Turlington, Vice Chairman, the meeting being called t'e.:'order by the Vice
Chairman.
It is ordered that J. E. Dupree, County Auditor bring forward all
unlisted taxes for the year 1930-
The meeting adjourned until the first Monday in June
1930.

The Bonrd_-of County Commissiohers met in regular session on June
2nd, 1930 with all the members being present except Stuart Turlington.
Also J. O. West, County Atty. The mintues were read and approved.
IT is ordered that the'land formerly listed by Marshal Smith and the
25 acres now owned by the heirs of _Phoeba Smith, be released of Taxes for th
years 1927 -1925 upon the payment of $76.14.
It is ordered that the property listed by J. J. Cook in Averasboro.
Township and that protion of said property on which a house is now situate&
and said house & lot having-been sold to Chas Watkins be released from all
back taxes upon the payment of one -half of the tax of the property listed by
J. J. Cooke. It appearing to the Commissioners that the value of said .house
& lot is $2000.00' and the county Auditor is hereby authorized to refund the
said Chas Watkins one half of the taxes heretofore paid by the said Chas.
Watkins.
It is ordered that Joe E. Jernigan be fefunded the taxes paid on
$400.00 valuation of improvements that was by error listed in 1929 in
averasboro township.
It is ordered that the property listed by Mrs. Lucy Denning in Grove
Township be reduced from $3193..00 to'$2393.00 -for reason of dwelling hawing
been burned.
It is, ordered that the county pay $10.00 for teeth for John Turlingto,
inmate of the County Home.
It is ordered that Thedore Tripp be hired out to his father Moses Tripp
for a term of 12 months upon the payment' of the Coat. The said Theodore Tripe'
is to be a law abiding citizen and he is to attend church & sunday school
regularly and the said Moses Tripp, father of Theodore Tripp, is to give
bond in the sum of $200.00 for the payment of the Cost which amt. is $131.65
satd cost to be paid by Oct 15th, 1930, waid bond to be filed with the Clerk
of Court,
It is ordered that the County pay W. R. Strickland of Duke Township
