TO THE BOARD OF:COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF HARNETT COUNTY. WHEREAS, There has been created in your Board a vanancy by reason of'the death of Mr. John McLeod, a member of your Board: AND WHEREAS, Under the law the Clerk of the Superior Court is empowered to fill vavancies in the Board of County Commissioners: - NOW THEREFORE, I, L. M. Chaffin, Clerk of -the Superior Court' of Harnett County., do hereby appoint as a member of your body to -fill out the unexpired term of Mr. John McLeod, T. R. These photostats are to be of a standard.sixe, name 12" x.20" bound in 4 good strong binder like sample exhibited, for the sum Nineteen Hundred and eighty -eight dollars, (019$5.00) We expect.to make new tracings of all the maps that we think necessary of which there will be approximately 170 and these tracings will be 17° x 20" on good tracing linen These tracings will also be photostated and mounted on cloth. We also intend to make a new and complete index, of course preserving the old index. The above price of $1988.00 does not include the maps that are scattered thru the various deed books. School Board be allowed to employ teachers for the following schools to fill out the unexpired part of a six months school teem The schools, Erwin, Boon Trail, Angier, Oak Ridge. Its is ordered that the lots described ina deed of Trust frost Ellis Goldstein to R. P. Lewis recorded in Book 219 page 218, be valued at $225.00 instead of 5150.00. It appearing to the board that a part of the lot was not lised. The Erwin Cotton Mills now the owner of said lot to pay taxes on the same for the year 1929 and prior years on the valuation of 5225.00 and its pro -rata part of court cost. It is ordered that E. V. Snipes pay the privilege taxes for 1926 -27 without penalty added. It is ordered that A. H. Stewart of Neill's Creek township be relieved 02 poll tax for year 1929. ABSOLUTION: ANGIER SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 34. Whereas, Angier School District No. 34 is a unit of the County -Wide system of Public Schools of Harnett County, North Carolina; and Whereas, there is only one school building for the accommotation of pupils of the White race in said District, which csaid building wee erected in the year 1917, and its capacity is only 360 students; WHEREAS, since the completion of said building twelve years ago the bound -ries ofsaid District have been extended and now include practically the whole of Black River Township, and the School census indicates that there are approximately 835 children of school age in said District who are required by law to attend school, of whom 670 have enrolled this session, and wavy others of whom have been discouraged from attending school in this District because of lack of calss-room space and equipment in said District; and, WHEREAS, the present enrollment is more than 186% of the capacity for which said building was disigned, and the average daily attendance has already reached 522.2 pupils, and the County does not own a building in the said District for the accom4odation of the large number of school children in said. District and the ever increasing school population; and, WHEREAS, an unforseen emergenok has arissnitn that many families have emigrated fromaPleasant Grove Township, in Johnston County, where there is no high school, into said District No. 34, and have bought homes in Harnett County so that children might attend school, and the number of school children in said District who by law are requred to attend school and who are entitled to the benefit of an education is approximately 231% of the capacity o: the *present building; and, WHERIi1AS, for the reasons mentioned, taste is immediate and urgent need for t new building, to be used in addition to the one now at Angier, to accoarodate at least ten classes, and to provide and include at least 10 class - rooms, a library and auditorium, all of standard size, for use in said District; and, WHEREAS, the purchase of a site and the erection of a high sohool building as ageparate plate at Angier, to privide 10 classrooms of standard size, a libr y and auditorium, is positively necessary and indispensible to provide for the establishment and maintenance of a six months' term of school in said District as a part of the State System of Public Schools in Harnett County, Ls is requred by the mandate of the Constitution of the State; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the board of Education of Harnett County, in keeping with its duty as imposed upon it by law to provide necessary buildings for school puposxs in which children may attend school for at least 26 six months each year, urgently requests the Board of Commissioners of Barnet County to do any and all things necessary and prepequisite to the issue and sale of Harnett County bonds, legally calling and conducting an election, i required by law to so do, to the end that Harnett County bonds may be sold t provide the sum of $50.000, with which to provide a site and building as emntioned in the preamble of this resolution, so that a new school` building may be provided at Angier, and that the proceeds of the said bond issue of $50,000, (said sum being necessary to accomplish the results) be placed a the disposal of the Board of Education of Harnett County, t be expended for purposes indicated herin, and in keeping with the law. BE IT FWRTHER - RESOLVED,'that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Board of Commissioner of Harnett County, now in session, and that a copy, of same be spread upon the minutes of this Board.
