REGULAR MEETING,' July lst, 1929. The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session July lst, 1929 with all members present together with the county Attorney. The meeting was oalled to order by the Chairman. The minutes were read and approved. It is ordered that Harnett County appropriate $500.00 to be used for the purpose of carrying on the work of the Forrest Fire Protection in Harnett County for the year 1929-1930. Voting for:Morgan, Turlingtoni McLeod, Lowdermilk, Against: Pope. SOL TI N WHEREAS, sufficient taxes have not been collected to pay appropriations made for the current fiscal year in 1929- 1930, Harnett County, and a temp- orary loan is neeessary to meet such appropriations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the-Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County, North Carolina that said County borrow and be authorized to borrow, on the faith and credit of said countyT as provided in Section 4 of "The County Finance Act", the sum of Seventy five Thousand Dollars, ($73,000) for the purpose of raising funds to meet the appropriations made for ordinary expenses of said Countyo and the Chairman of this Board be and is hereby authorized to exxcute a note or notes in the aforesaid sum dated July 20, 1,29 payable to bearer, signed by t e said Chairman, and attested by the Clerk to the Board, payable on the ZOth day of January, 1930, and bearing interest at the rate of fil per cent per annum, and that such note or notes be negotiated and delivered by the said Chairman for the purposesaforesaid." RELEASE OF TAUS IT IS ORDERED that Butler Bros. Co. of Averasboro Township, Dunn, N.C. be granted a relief on 0716.66 leaving Butler Bros. UPON DUE CONSIDERATION of then board it is ordered that this county accept "The Workman° compensation Act" by taking the insurance as provided therein. It is ordered that a Committee be appointed by the Chairman to devise plans whereby there may be more taxables placed on the tax books in this oounty. The committee appointed by the Chairman is as follows, J. O. West County Atty., Wm. Morgan, Comm. J. E. Dupree, County Auditor, all members voting for. It is ordered that the list- takers in Harnett County he allowed 46.00 per day for services rendered, the county in listing taxes. All mbmbers voting for. It is ordered that Jas. Pearsall list taker for Averasboto Township be allowed 472.00 for traveling expenses and extra help during the time of listing taxes. Dupree, within ten (1 0) PETITION • TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF HARNETT COUNTY: The petition of W. H. Lane, respectfully represents: That on Nov 26, 1927 he purchased from Planters Bank and Trust Co. of Lumberton, N. C. five tracts of land aggregating 124.18 acres as shown by deed recorded in Book 222, at page 470. That the taxes for the year 1927 were paid by the Planters Bank & Trust Co. That this petitioner paid the taxes for the year 1928 assessed against said land under protest; that since the said payment the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County have corrected the error in the acreage of the said land, it having been carried on the incpmpleted re- valuation sheet of 1927 as containing 132 acres. That the incompleted revaluation sheet for the 1927 as far -s ns pertains to this tract of land contains the following: 132 acres at $75.00 - - No building, adjoings H. L. Godwin and J. M. Lee, "We could not get any inform- ation on this land" That H. L.
