0404192715 MINUTES OF MEETING OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APRIL 4th, 1927. County Commissioners met in regular session Apl 4th, 1927. Chairman, Present: James A. Buchanan, V. nnriByrd, J. A. Hockaday, E. P. Ingram, and I. R. Williams, Atty, absent. Minutes of last meeting read and approved with the correction of appointing two tax assessors to assist County Supervisor in call session of March 24th. It is ordered that W. S. Barnes of Black River Township be relieved of poll tax on account of physical condition. It is ordered that J. R. Harmon be relieved of taxes on $1250.00 valuation of land which was sold in Neill's Creek Township. It is ordered thar voucher be issued to A. H. Swain of Aversboro Township for 416.57, for 1926 taxes, on account of physical condition. PAUPER ALLOWANCES It is ordered that 410.00 per month be allowed Howard. Presley, Coats, N.C. It is ordered that 45.00 per month) It is ordered that Mary Gregory be allowed 48.00 per month, check to be mailed to Calvin Norris, Dunn. N. C. TT n Upper Little R. n n R 15 TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF HARNETT COUNTY: We, the undersignet qualified voters of District No. 71, l•.nown as the Liliington School District, who have resided with in said school district for a period of twelve months or more, do hereby petition your Honorable Board for an election as contemplated in Part V11, Article 17, Sec. 219 of the =ublic School Law of North Carolina, Oodification of 1923, in order to ascertain whether there shall be levied in said district a local annual tax of 20 cents for maintenance in addition to the present 30 cents on the one hundred dollar valuation of all property real and personal, the total special tax rate not to exceed 50 cents on the 0100.00 valuation, to supplement the funds for the six months public school term for said district more specifically for increasing the length of the term to nine months and to maintain a standard grade grammer school and an accredited high school; the boundaries of said district to be as follows: Beginning at the mouth of Neill's Creek, and running thence up the various courses of said creek to the northeast corner of Alonzo Johnson's land where his land adjoins the John Johnson estate; thence as Alonzo Johnson's line to a corner of the MoKinnie estate and Blalock's land; thence as their line to a stake in E. B. Johnson's line; thence in an easterly direction Twit! E. B. Johnson's line to a corner of the Robert Johnson estate and EY B. Johnson; thence east with the line of the Robert Johnson estate to the Lillington-Angier Road; thence as the Lillington- Angier Road in the direction of Lillington to a stake in K. Murchison's northwest land line; thence as his line to J. L. Wilder's corner on the northwest side of his residence; thence as his line in an easterly directioh to corner with John Green and Raymond Wilder; thence northwardly with Raymond 'ailder's line to a corner with A. Marsh and others NORTH CAROLINA) HARNETT COUNTY) RESOLUTION OF BOARD OF COUNTY COMMTSSIONERS CALLING SPECIAL ELECTION IN HARNETT COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 71 Whereas, there has been presented to this Board at its regular meeting on the first Monday in April 1927, a petition signed by more than twenty -five of the qualified voters of Harnett County School District No. 71, who have resided within said district for a period of twelve months or more, petitioning this Board to call an election in said district for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters thereof the question of voting a special local tax in said district of 20 cents on the 41.00 of property valuation for the purpose of supplement- ing the funds for the six months school term in said district; and, whereas, said petition has been duly presented to the Board ofYEducation of Harnett County, received due consideration by that body and is now before this board upon the endorsement of the Chairman and Secretary of said Board of Educatic and the approval of said board, as by law provided: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF HARNETT COUNTY IN REGUALR SESSION ASSEMBLED ON MONDAY, APRIL 4th, 1927: (1) That an election be had in said Harnett County School District No. 71 on the llth day of May 1927, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters thereof the question of levying a special local tax in said district of twenty cents upon the :1.00 of porperty valuation, for the purpose of supplementing the funds for the six months school term for said district, tli boundaries of the said district being as follows. (Same territory as described in above petition) (2) That there be a new registration of the voters in said district above described, and that a notice of said registration be published in some newspaper having a circulation in said district at least 30 days before the close of the registration books. n e L58 • (3). That those desiring to vote for the special tax shall vote a ticker upo which shall be printed or written the words "FOR LOCAL TAX" and those desiring to vote against the special tax shall vote a ticker upon which shall be printed or written the words "AGAINST LOCAL TAX". i5). That C. M. Thacker be, and he is hereby appointed Registrar for said election, and C. P. Kelly and 0. L. Johnson are hereby appointed as Poll Holders for said election.
