07201936387 July 20, 1936. The Board of County Commissioners sitting as a Board of Equalization and Review met with the following members present: Chairman J.B. Ennis; E.L.Cooke; J.S.Barker;'Geo.T.Noel and A.A.Cameron. County Attorney I.R.Williams was also present. The following complaints were heard and acted upon: (a) It is ordered that valuation on 62 sores of land of Mts. Nancy C.Lee in Averasboro Township, be reduced to $2380.00 in 1936. (8) It is ordered that valuation of house of Mrs: C.W.Harris in the town of Dunn, be reduced to $2960.00 for 1935 and 1936. Complaint having been heard in 1935 but no action taken. (3) It is ordered that the lot now owned by Mrs. D.A .Blackman, known as the Mrs. P.A.Lewis property, be valued at $800.00 on account of non - valuation for prior years. (4) It is ordered that the order heretofore made concerning the value of the lot known as the T.L.Gerald old residence, be and the same is hereby rescinded and that Geo.T.Noel, E.L.Cooke and H.S.Frseman investigate the value and report at the next meeting, and to report snlall other complaints by John Moore Lee at same time. (5) It is ordered that the sum of $500.00 be deducted from the valuation of the 9 acres known as the Clarence Austin lands. (6) It is ordered that the valuation of 193 acres of land in Johnsonville Township listed in the name of Merton D.Tart, be reduced #45.00 on account of building being burned. 1936 adjusted valuation - $1395.00. (7) It is ordered that the valuation of the 58 acres of land in Johnsonville Township, listed in the name of John M.Swman, be reduced $205.00 on account of buildings burned. 1936 adjusted valuation - $620.00. (8) It is ordered that the valuation of 75 acres of land in Johnsonville Township, listed in the name of 1.H,Womack, be reduced $270.00 on account of buildings burned. 1936 adjusted valuation - $475.00. (9) It is ordered that the valuation on the Dixie Hotel property in Lillington Township, listed in the name of J.C.Byrd & Bro., be reduced $1995.00. (10) It is ordered that the valuation on vacant lot listed by Ws. Bea.: Parker on J Street, in Lillington Township, be reduced from $460. to $250. (11) It is ordered that the valuation of the 465 acres of land listed by T.B.Matthews, Hectors Creek Township, be fixed at 14650.00 for 1936, on account of the timber being sold off. (12) It is ordered that the valuation on the farm property listed by A.F.Fowler, in Duke Township be reduced the sum of $340.00. it is ordered that B,B.Hodges, Duke Township, be allowed peddlers license without charge for years 1935, 1936, and 1937, on account of being a disabled World War veteran. Application was filed during the fiscal year 1935 -1936, but action was postponed until discharge was shown. It is ordered that the index proposition for the Register of Deeds office and the Clerk of Superior Court office be deferred until first Monday in August, at whioh time the lawyers of the County are asked to meet with the Board to discuss the need of this work. It is ordered that the eu* of $50.00 be accepted in full of all taxes for year 1935 and prior years on the lots formerly listed by Jamie barefoot, In Averasboro Township, and the Auditor is direoted to release said property for 1935 and prior years upon the receipt of said sum of $50.00. RESOLUTION: Be it resolved that the 7,169.15 acres of land formerly Overfills Land Co., now owned by D.H.Senter, Dr. C.R.Young, L.M.Chaffin, Charlie Andrews and W.R.Johnson, situated in Anderson Creek Township, Haeuett County, be listed for taxation for the year 1936 at the valuation of $55,000.00.
