03231936March 23, 1936. The Board of County Commissioners met with the following members present: J.B.Ennis, Geo. T.Noel, E.L.Cooke and J.S.Barker. The County Attorney, I.R.Williams, was also present. The Board appointed J.S.McLean acting Clerk. The following Committee was appointed to draft resolution of respect for the late Edwin Harrington: Geo. T.Noel, I.R.Williams, and J.S.McLean. Mrs. Inez Sloan Harrington was appointed Register of Deeds to fill out the unexpired term of the late Edwin Harrington. - The County Auditor was directed to handle all funds of the Register of Deeds until bond is furnished by Mrs. Inez S.Harrington. J:S.McLean and I.R.Williams, were appointed Committee to settle the account of Edwin Harrington, late Register of Deeds, with the County, and when said settlement is made, a report be- filed. The sum of 4390.00 is appropriated for -the use of the Community Building in Dunn, I.C., said sum to be donated when title to said building, known as Micheal Williams home, is placed in the name of the Trustees of the Dunn Community Womans Club, for the purpose of maintaining the said Community Building. Taxes now due on said property to be paid. It is ordered that the Board request the Highway Commission to proceed with the contract for the Dunn - Newton Grove Road. It is ordered that the County Auditor and Tax Supervisor place a valuation of $1190.00 on the 54 -acre tract of J.S.Ingram land, and proportionate valuation for prior years. Also, .a valuation of $1070.00 of the 40- acre tract of 0.L.HainiltontSy;same being a part of the J.S.Ingram land. The /04 acres allotted to Phillip David, from the J.S.Ingram tract, is ordered to be valued at $25.00 per acre for cleared land, ;12.50 for wood lands, and $5.00 for waste land/p2299o.12. RESOLD TION WHEREAS, death has entered the rank of the officials of Harnett County on March 20, 1936 in the passing of Edwin Harrington, Register of Deeds; AND WHEREAS during the year Edwin Harrington served as Register of Deeds he was a f &ithful and conscientious public servant who by his efficient and courteous'conduct in discharging the duties of his office endeared himself to all people with whom he came in contact. AND WHEREAS the members of Board of Commissioners regret the untimely death of Edwin Harrington and each individual member feeling the deep personal loss in a sincere friend and a devoted officer for themselves and the people of Harnett County. BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners on the part of themselves personally and in their official capacity do express their sincere sympathy to the widow and son of our late Register of Deeds who served our County so ably these years.
