12021935343 December 2nd. 1935. The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the following members present: J.B.Ennis, Chairman, J.S. Barker, A.A. Cameron, Geo. T.Noel and E.L. Cooke. I.R. • Williams, County Attorney was also present. It is ordered that petition for road in Barbecue Township from M.D.'McLeod's residence to the Lillington -Swann Station road be approved and forwarded to the State Highway and Public Works dommission for consideration. It is ordered that J.F. Bethune of Stewarts Creek Township be released of taxes on $1920.00 personal property valuation on account of listing cotton for year 1935. It is ordered that valuation of lot of M.K. Williams in hverasboro Township located on North Ellis Avenue be reduced $500.00 on account of error in listing. It is ordered that valuation of real estate of Mrs. Henry G. Phillips in Buckhorn Township be reduced from $1225.00 to $1000.00. It is ordered that the valuation of lot on East Broad Street in the town of Dann be raised from $200.00 to $250.00 and listed in the name of Mrs. J.R. Butler. Harrington, Tax Collector, be accepted It is ordered that A.W. Edwards be allowed to peddle fruit in Harnett County without charge on account of being a disabled World War Veteran. It is ordered that W.D. Page be released of the payment of poll tax for the years 1931, 1932 and 1935 on account of being a disabled World War Veteran. It is ordered that W.D. Page be granted peddler's license without charge in Harnett County on account of being a disabled World War Veteran. RESOLUTION: Whereas the clerk of the Superior Court has asked for an increase in pay, and whereas the clerical work in the office of the Superior Court Clerk on aocount of tax suits for both town and County has increased very :much, it is ordered that L.M. Chaffin be allowed an additional increase of 10% as pro vided,by act of 1935 for a period of six months beginning First Monday in December, 1935, that is $33.00 per month for that period; By unanimous vote J.B. Ennis was re- elected Chairman for the next 12 months. By unanimous vote Geo. T. Noel was elected Vice- &airman for the next 12 months. By unanimous vote J.S. McLean was appointed Auditor for the next twelve months and that bond be furnished in the same amount as now existing. By unanimous vote H.S. Freeman was appointed Assistant Auditor for the next twelve monthsand bond to be furnished in the same amount as now existing. It was ordered by unanimous vote that H.C.Strickland be appointed Solicitor for the next 12 months. It was ordered by unanimous vote that I.R. Williams be appointed County Attorney for the next twelve months. RESOLUTION: Whereas the State Highway and Public Works Commission as shown by the attach letter has indicated its desire to reconsider the petition now on file with $he said Commission that said %om:ission take over and maintain that road lead- ing from the Harnett- Johnston line to the Little River Church in Grove Town- ship, Harnett County; Now therefore, it is resolved that the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County do hereby re- approve the said petition and request that the said road be taken over and maintained by the said State Highway and Public Works Com- mission. It is ordered that the valuation of that certain lot Awned by E.W. Capps in Coats be fixed at $25.00 and this amount to be deducted from A.W. Capps pro- perty and the Auditor be instructed to segregate. It is ordered that D.C. Marks of Johnsonville Township be relieved of the payment of poll tax for years'1933, 1934 and 1935 on aocount of physical disability. • It is ordered that the valuation of the lot of J. Grenthall in Goats, V.C. be reduced from $375.00 to $250.00 for the years 1933, 1934 and 1935. It is ordered that report of fir. Peede, County Health Officer, be accepted and filed. It is ordered that J.S, McLean, Bounty Purchasing Agent and.Commissioner Noel be requested to purchase supplies for the Court House recomzaended by the November Grand Jury. Sauls pf Hectors Creek Township be relieved of the pay - ment of poll tax for year 1935. It is ordered that Eugene Hobby of Casma, N.C. be granted the privilege of pur- chasing beer license. It is ordered that George Joseph of Bunn, N.G' be granted the privilege of pur- chasing beer license. It is ordered that report of Edwin Harrington, Register of Deeds, be accepted and filed. RESOLUTIONS Resolved that the,County of Harnett convey to W.R. Williams, Receiver for the Banking Loan and Trust (company, his heirs, successors and assigns, all of the right, title and interest which the said county of Harnett obtained or may have obtained under and by virtue of that certain action -in the Superior Court of Harnett Bounty entitled "County of Harnett vs E.C. Womack ", being an action to foreclose tax liens against the 50 acre tract described and referred to in said proceedings upon the payment to -the said County of Harnett by said L R. Williams, Receiver of the sum of $453.95, which said sum has this day been paid by said Receiver. The Auditor of Harnett Bounty is hereby authorized and directed to deliver to said W.R. Williams, (deceiver, or his agent or attorney, the un- recorded deed of J.0. West, commissioner to the County of Harnett, dated April 6, 1931, together with all tax receipts and certificates of sale against said property for the year 1934 and all prior years; and that upon the delivery of said deed, tax receipts and certificates of sale the said County of Harnett shall be forever barred from asserting any claim against satd land for any claim against said land for any claim of taxes due said County prior to the yearl935. Gardner property in Black 'River Township, Harnett Bountyy North Carolina, owned by The Trustees of Wake iforest college, Inc., since March 30, 1932, which said property has been listed in the name of S.W. Brewer, Wake forest, N.C. ; be and the same is hereby released from any and all taxes assessed against said property by Harnett County since March 30, 1932, and said taxes are hereby cancelled and the Tax Gol lector and Auditor of Harnett dOunty are hereby authorized and directed to cancel all taxes which have been assessed against said property and the said property is hereby released from any and all taxes so long as the property is owned by The Trustees of Wake Forest %liege, Inc. and the income or rent therefrom is used exclusively for educational purposes ,or for the interest upon the bonded indebted- ness of The Trustees of Wake Forest college, Inc. in accordance with Chapter 204 section 304, subsection 4 -1, Public Laws 1933 and amendments thereto, This the 2nd. day of December, 1935.
