The Board of $aunty CQmmissionera met in an adjourned session. The following
members were present:T.B.Jnnis, Chairman, E.L. Cooke, J.S. Barker, Geo. T. Noel
and A.A. Cameron.
The following resolution was unanimously adopted:
It was ordered by the Board of Commissioner of Harnett County that all
resolutions and orders recorded don page 3Q9 of Minute Book No. 6 of the Minutes
of the Board of Commissioners of Harnett Bounty of a meeting held on September
4, 1935 except the first three and last paragraphs be rescinded and annulled which
said rescinded and annulled paragraphs pertain and relate solely to the Tax Col-
lector, Assistant dolieotor and County Depository.
The following resolution offered by dommissioner J.S. Barker, seoonded by
Commissioner Geo. 1. Noel, were unanimously adopted:
1. Resolved that the salary of the Tax Collector of Harnett Bounty for the
year 1935 levy lie placed at $431.26 per month; that in addition to said monthly
salary the Tax Collector shall receive all legal levy and garnishee fees now
allowed aaid office; amd that the above compensation shall be the full compensation
including all expenses for said office, except suoh sums as may be allowed for land
sales, the amount to be determined by said Board of Commissioners.
2. Resolved that W.D. Harrington duly appointed Tax Collector of Harnett
County for the 1935 levy be and is hereby relieved from the duty of collecting any
tales prior to the 1935 levy made by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County.
3. Resolved that the bond of W.D. Harrington, who was duly appointed Tax
dolleotor of Harnett County for the 19$5 lax :levy made by the Board of Commissioner
at'a regular meeting of said Board of Commissioners held on august 5th. 1935 be
find at $25,000.00, said bond to be approved at a next regular meeting or at any
adjourned meeting of this Board of dommissioners.
4. Resolved that the bond of D.G. Campbell, who was designared as Assistant
Tax Collector by said W.D. Harrington be fixed at the sum of $5000.00, said bond to
be'approved at a next regular meeting or at any adjourned meeting of this Board of
Commissioners.
5. Resolved that the First Citizens Bank and Trust Company of Dunn, N.C. be
designated as the official depository of County of Harnett for all funds belonging
to the County of Harnett, including all funds collected by W.D. Harrington, as Tax
'llolleotor of Harnett County for 1935 tax levy, made by the Board of Commissioners
of Harnett @aunty]
6. Resolved that the arse Citizens Bank and Trust Company of Dunn, N.0 depos
a bond in the sus of $75,000.00, which seid bond shall secure all of the deposits
made in said official depository by the 'County of Harnett including all sums de-
posited by W.D. Harrington, as Tax Collector of Harnett County for 1935 tax levy.
7. Resolved that the removal of the said seoureties totalling 370,000.00, for-
'Wily safely kept in a safety deposit box in the First Citizens Dank and Trust
eelpany at Dunn, N.C. from the First Citizens Bank and Trust Company at Dunn, N.C.
by_Order of the Local Government Commission of the State of North Carolina, to
Waehevia Bank and Trust Company, at Raleigh, N.C. as Trustee, be and the same is
hereby approved.
8. Resolved that the bond now on file with the dounty of Harnett in the sum
of $10,000.00 with the First Citizens Bank and Trust Company as prinoipal thereon
and the Fidelity and Deposit Co. of Marylany, as surety thereon; and the seoure-
ties totalling $70,000.00 now deposited with the Wa hovia Bank and Trust Company
es Trustee, for the said County of Harnett and the first Citizens Bank and Trust
Company be and the same are hereby approved, as the said bond herein before
required to secure all the said deposits made in the name of the County of Harnett
including these deposits made by W.D. Harrington, as Tax Collector for 1935 Tax
levy.And that none of the said aecureties so deposited with the Waohovia Bank
and Trust Company, as Trustee, be removed from the custody of the said Trustee,
except upon a certified (ropy of a recorded resolutuon duly passed by Ibis Board of
Somaissioners.
9. Resolved that W.D. Harrington Tax Collector, deposit daily all amounts
collected on 1935 taxes in the First Citizens Bank and Trust deapany, Dunn, N.C.
official depository of said Bounty of Harnett, to the oredit of Harnett County
X153 Tax Distribution Account, and that the said official depository receipt the
Maid W.D. Harrington. Tax Collector, daily for such deposits; and that upon said
eoueplisace on the part of W.D. Harrington, Tax Collector, that he and his surety
on his bond shall be relieved of further responsibility Ce* such amounts so
deposited.
It is now ordered that the Board to adjourn subject to the call of the
Chairman.
