The Board of Commissioners met in regular session with: the following
members present: J.W. Belford, Chairman, E.L.Qooke, J.B.Ennis, J.H.Williams and
H.M.O'C,Uinn'. Also, I.R.Williams, County 'Attorney
It was ordered that valuations of lots in Dunn of Mrs. Vlonnie Mae Tart
be investigated by the Auditor with full authority to make proper adjustment and
that any lot or lots not owned by Mrs. Tart on Jan. 1, 1931, be stricken from list.
it was ordered that L.B.Wilkins be refunded taxes on a valuation of 4112.0
for the year 1929, 1930 and 1931 when taxes arepaid to date.
It was ordered that all taxes paid on Nov. 2, 1931'be allowed 1% •c om-
mission inasmuch -as Nov. 1, 1931 happened to be on Sunday.
It was ordered that D.P. McDonald be released of payment of taxes on 50
acres'of land in Barbecue Township as same is listed by R. Cameron. Auditor to
make investigation and make proper correction.
It was ordered that Gulf Refining Company lots and other real estate in
Sverasboro Township be fixed at 46600.00, the same valuation fixed -by a-previous
order.of this Board.
It was ordered that the bond of Geo. LiCannaday be- reduced from $50000.00
to $25000.00 upon condition that he make daily settlements of his collections.
It was ordered that H.R. Grande'', Sthens,Pa. be allowed to pay taxes on
land in Anderson Creek Township amounting to $53.06 under protest and the County
Auditor be ordered to investigate excessive valuation and make refund if error is
found in valuation. It is further ordered that J.H.Wlliaits,Jr, make investigation
as to-timber on the above land and make report.
It was ordered that Johhua Beasley be allowed to pay 1930 taxes in
Averaaboro Township under protest pending investigation of value of lot.in Dunn.
Mr. Cooke to make investigation.

and the following Resolution be adopted:
"WHEREAS, in the preparation of the District School budget for Long Branch
District 27, we, the committee, failed to request funds for supplmmenting State
funds "for the payment of water, light and power bills for the six months term.
AND WHEREAS, we find that the appropriationhofbState funds for the Long
Branch Schoolis insufficient to pay the bills for the six months
term.
AND WHEREAS, the 5 cent levy for special school tax made for said dis-
trict appears to be sufficient to include the funds needed for light and power.
In view of the above facts, we respectfully request that you permit
District j27 to pay the necessary amount to supplement the state funds for the
purpose indicated from the levy already made.
We also respectfully request that you secure the approval of the Board
of County Commissioners and the State Board of Equalization to permit us to use a
part of our district funds for the purposes indicated.

It was ordered that Geo. E. Johnson be allowed $4.00 per month until further orders
from this Board.
It was ordered that J.W. Stephens be allowed $5.00 per month temporarily.
It was ordered that report of L.M. Chaffin, C.S.C. be accepted and filed and
checks attached in the amounts of 4167.50 and $150.50 be ordered delivered to
the County Auditor.
It was ordered that R.E.Smith be relieved of taxes on a valuation to be determined
by the Auditor and Mr. Smith for the year 1931 on account of fire. gectors Creek.
It was ordered that sale of wagon belonging to the County by T.R. Brown be confirmed
and check for $30.00 being sale price, ordered delivered to County Auditor.
It was ordered that J.W. Halford, Chairman, be authorized to have gutters and
drain spouts repaired on Court House and Jail.
It was ordered that Mrs. Butler be allowed $15.00 for the month of November,&931.
It was ordered that J.C.Wilbon be released of taxes on a valuation of $774.00 for
the year 1930 on account of insolvent credits.
It was ordered that the valuation of 200 acres of land listed by T.H.Cummings,Jr.
in Upper Little River Township be placed at $2530.00.
It was ordered by the Board that the valuation of land of John Henry Brown in U.L.R.
be placed at $800.00.
It was ordered that Edna T. Butler be released of taxes on $750.00 valuation on
account of note of L.L. Glover which she lists for taxation. This release for the
year 1931 only.
It is ordered that J.S. McLean, Auditor, be and he is hereby authorized to issue a
proper receipt for the taxes due on said lot for the year 1930 and prior years upon
a valuation of $600.00. T e said lot being located in Averasboro Township and listed
in the name of Mary J.MoDdnald and now being owned by L.B. Jackson.
It is ordered that order of Judge Thomas J. Shaw, Judge, recorded in Judgment Docket
/21 at page 46 be complied with and G.L. Woodley be reimbursed the sums so ordered.
It was ordered that chattel mortgage of Willie Morgan be accepted for mules sold to
him by the County.
It was ordered that the valuation of 32* acres of land in Stewarts Creek Township
belonging to J.E. Stamper be placed at $760.00.

nett taxes for the year 1930 and for all years prior to the year 1930 against the f

correct the 1931 Revaluation record and 1931 Assessment roll of said land in accor-
dance with valuation of this Resolution.

sive; and further that said 58 acres be released and discharged of any and all Hairnet
County Taxes for the years 1931, 1930, 1929, 1928, 1927, 1926 and all prior years
upon payment to the County Auditor,J.S.Naliean, of the sum of 4169.61 on or before

RESOLUTION:
WHEREAS the valuation of 220 acres of land in Lillington Township North of the Lill-
ington to Erwin Road described in Book 113, page 345, Registry of Harnett County,
being a portion of the 800nacres of,land of Estate of Mrs. M.M. McKay, was by
resolution o£ Harnett County Board Of Commissioners of October 5, 1931, fixed for
1931 Harnett County Taxation at value of $4500.00; and whereas Bank of Lillington
desires to pay 1931 County taxes pm said 220 acres:
IT IS THEREFORE on motion duly made and carried, RESOLVED: That the 220 acres
of land in Lillington Township described in Book 113, page 345 Registry of Harnett
County be released and discharged of and from all 1931 County of Harnett taxes upon
payment of the-sum of $74.70 less i$ if paid on or before Nov. 2nd, 1931, said pay-
ment to be made to George L. Cannaday,County Tax Collector, and said 220 acres be-
ing that portion of a tract of 800 acres of Estate of Mrs M.M.McKay Estate, lying
North of the Highway from Lillington to Erwin; and further the said County Tax Col-
lector is hereby authorized and directed to settle and release and discharge said
220 acres of all 1931 Harnett County taxes upon payment of said $73.95 if paid on
or before November 2, 1931.

Upon motion duly made and passed, it is resolved: That the house and lot in the
town of Buies Creek, N.C. known as the T`iL. Reardon residence, and described in
deed of trust executed by T.L. Reardon and wife, Alice E. Reardon, to W.P. Byrd
trustee, recorded in Book No 220 at page 122, Registry of Harnett County, be dis-
charged and released of any and all county taxes for the years 1929, 1930 and 1931
upon the payment of the sum of $62.47 to J.S. McLean, Auditor, which is the taxes
computed by the Auditor for the years 1929 and 1930, and the further payment to Geo.
L. Cannaday, Tax Collector the sum of $18.25 which is the taxes on said property

possible place same on the State system.

the Lillington road near Ridge Way colored School and running thence to J.B.War-
wick's be approved and the State Highway Commission be requested to take action at
once.
It Was ordered that petition for road in Lillington Township connecting Route 160
with Route #21 via Chandler- Farlow Lumber Company's mill be approved and that the
StateHighway Commission be requested to take action in this regard at their earliest
convenience.
It was ordered that the petition for -road in Black River Township leading from the
Angier-Buies Creek road to a point on the Jones public road be approved and the
State Highway Commission be requested to investigate and Make action at once.
It was ordered }that petition for road in U.L.R. leading from /60 at Cameron's Par-
vice Station to a point on the Leaflet - Mt.Pisgah road be approved and that the 'Haut
State Highway Commission be requested to take action on this project as soon as
possible.
