1102193112 November 2nd. '1931. ' The Board of Commissioners met in regular session with: the following members present: J.W. Belford, Chairman, E.L.Qooke, J.B.Ennis, J.H.Williams and H.M.O'C,Uinn'. Also, I.R.Williams, County 'Attorney It was ordered that valuations of lots in Dunn of Mrs. Vlonnie Mae Tart be investigated by the Auditor with full authority to make proper adjustment and that any lot or lots not owned by Mrs. Tart on Jan. 1, 1931, be stricken from list. it was ordered that L.B.Wilkins be refunded taxes on a valuation of 4112.0 for the year 1929, 1930 and 1931 when taxes arepaid to date. It was ordered that all taxes paid on Nov. 2, 1931'be allowed 1% •c om- mission inasmuch -as Nov. 1, 1931 happened to be on Sunday. It was ordered that D.P. McDonald be released of payment of taxes on 50 acres'of land in Barbecue Township as same is listed by R. Cameron. Auditor to make investigation and make proper correction. It was ordered that Gulf Refining Company lots and other real estate in Sverasboro Township be fixed at 46600.00, the same valuation fixed -by a-previous order.of this Board. It was ordered that the bond of Geo. LiCannaday be- reduced from $50000.00 to $25000.00 upon condition that he make daily settlements of his collections. It was ordered that H.R. Grande'', Sthens,Pa. be allowed to pay taxes on land in Anderson Creek Township amounting to $53.06 under protest and the County Auditor be ordered to investigate excessive valuation and make refund if error is found in valuation. It is further ordered that J.H.Wlliaits,Jr, make investigation as to-timber on the above land and make report. It was ordered that Johhua Beasley be allowed to pay 1930 taxes in Averaaboro Township under protest pending investigation of value of lot.in Dunn. Mr. Cooke to make investigation. R -3 be allowed $5:00 it was ordered that petition of Long Branch School Listrict x`27 be accepte and the following Resolution be adopted: "WHEREAS, in the preparation of the District School budget for Long Branch District 27, we, the committee, failed to request funds for supplmmenting State funds "for the payment of water, light and power bills for the six months term. AND WHEREAS, we find that the appropriationhofbState funds for the Long Branch Schoolis insufficient to pay the bills for the six months term. AND WHEREAS, the 5 cent levy for special school tax made for said dis- trict appears to be sufficient to include the funds needed for light and power. In view of the above facts, we respectfully request that you permit District j27 to pay the necessary amount to supplement the state funds for the purpose indicated from the levy already made. We also respectfully request that you secure the approval of the Board of County Commissioners and the State Board of Equalization to permit us to use a part of our district funds for the purposes indicated. It was ordered that the valuation of 200 acres of land listed by T.H.Cummings,Jr. in Upper Little River Township be placed at $2530.00. It was ordered by the Board that the valuation of land of John Henry Brown in U.L.R. be placed at $800.00. It was ordered that Edna T. Butler be released of taxes on $750.00 valuation on account of note of L.L. Glover which she lists for taxation. This release for the year 1931 only. It is ordered that J.S. McLean, Auditor, be and he is hereby authorized to issue a proper receipt for the taxes due on said lot for the year 1930 and prior years upon a valuation of $600.00. T e said lot being located in Averasboro Township and listed in the name of Mary J.MoDdnald and now being owned by L.B. Jackson. It is ordered that order of Judge Thomas J. Shaw, Judge, recorded in Judgment Docket /21 at page 46 be complied with and G.L. Woodley be reimbursed the sums so ordered. It was ordered that chattel mortgage of Willie Morgan be accepted for mules sold to him by the County. It was ordered that the valuation of 32* acres of land in Stewarts Creek Township belonging to J.E. Stamper be placed at $760.00. RESOLUTION: On motion duly made and carried, Be It Resolved, That all outstanding County of Har- nett taxes for the year 1930 and for all years prior to the year 1930 against the f following lands of Carrie B. McKay, was by resolution o£ Harnett County Board Of Commissioners of October 5, 1931, fixed for 1931 Harnett County Taxation at value of $4500.00; and whereas Bank of Lillington desires to pay 1931 County taxes pm said 220 acres: IT IS THEREFORE on motion duly made and carried, RESOLVED: That the 220 acres of land in Lillington Township described in Book 113, page 345 Registry of Harnett County be released and discharged of and from all 1931 County of Harnett taxes upon payment of the-sum of $74.70 less i$ if paid on or before Nov. 2nd, 1931, said pay- ment to be made to George L. It was ordered that petition for road in Barbecue Township lea3ing from a point on the Lillington road near Ridge Way colored School and running thence to J.B.War- wick's be approved and the State Highway Commission be requested to take action at once. It Was ordered that petition for road in Lillington Township connecting Route 160 with Route #21 via Chandler- Farlow Lumber Company's mill be approved and that the StateHighway Commission be requested to take action in this regard at their earliest convenience. It was ordered that the petition for -road in Black River Township leading from the Angier-Buies Creek road to a point on the Jones public road be approved and the State Highway Commission be requested to investigate and Make action at once.
