D.Jackson, Angus A.Cameron, present also was H.C.Strickland,Atty., and the Clerk to the Board,Inez Harrington. The report of Miss Lola OtQuinn,Delinquent Tax Collector was approved and ordered filed. The report of W.D.Harrington,Tax Collector, was approved and ordered filed. The report of Howard Godwin, C.S.C., was approved and ordered filed. The report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds of Harnett County, was approved and ordered filed. The following road petiton was approved and ordered filed: (1) Whereas there has been a threat and _there is a real danger of losing the mail service of about 30 years standing along a certain road from the State Highway near Rawles, running east by Andrew Westers, Dayton Gardnerts, and several other families, 16 in all, and into the Public Road at B.I.Cottents and Whereas there is considerable need for a better road for the public use; therefore, we the undersigned do most respectfully petition your Honorable Board to establish or cause to be improved a public road along the present pathway so that the mail carrier may be provided a better road to travel so that he might continue the mail service. 9 Be it resolved that the property in the town of Dunn and acquired at a tax foreclosure sale under judgment No #2211 -1, -1132 by Harnett County and the Town of Dunn be sold to W.L.Core,Dunn,N.C. for the sum of 0100. cash on delivery of the deed and described as follows: Being two lots or parcels of land situated in the Town of Dunn,Nerth Carolina, and being known as lots Nos. 5 and 6 in the division of the J.M.Blue properly (it being the property J.M.Biue purchased from B.H.Jernigan) each of said lots being 25 x 140 feet in seize. See Map Book 3 at page 66, Harnett County Registry. The foregoing lots or parcels of land being the same land conveyed by deed on February 21sti927 by John Mack Blue and wife, Bettie Blue of Harnett County to W.J. NORTH CAROLINA ORDINANCE HARNETT COUNTY Pursuant to the publid laws of the State of North Carolina of the session of the General Assembly of 1943, it being H use Bill N.. 180, and entitled, "An Act to Regulate the Closing Hours of Places°Selling Beer and/ or Wine in N rth Carolina", and by virtue of the authority contained therein, the Board of Commissioners of the County of Harnett, in the State of N o rth Carolina, do hereby resolve: n 1) That in addition to the restrictions on the sale of beer and /or wine set out in Sections one and two of House Bill No. 180, Public Laws of 1943, it appears that the public welfare demands that the sale of beer and /or wine within all portions of Harnett County not embraced in the corporate limits of mun- icipalities therein should be prohibited from eleven- thirty p.m. on each Saturday until seven a. m. on the following Monday, and that the authority granted by said laws should be exercised by the governing body of Harnett County. 2) The Board of Commissioners of the County of Harnett do ordain: - (a) That it shall be unlawful for any person, film or corporation who or which may be now or hereafter licensed to sell beer and /or wine in portions of Harnett County not embraced within the corporate limits of municipalities therein, to sell, or offer for sale, or to permit to be consumed on the premises of the licensee, any beer and /or wine from eleven - thirty o'clock p.m.on each Saturday until seven o'clock a.m. on the following Monday. (b) That any person,firm or corporation violating the provisions of this regulation and ordinance shall, upon conviction, be,gu.ilty of a middemeanor, and shall be punished as provided by Section 4 o House Bill No. 180, Public Laws of 1943, to wit: - By a fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) and /or imprisoned not less than thirty days, and his or its license to sell beer, and /or wine shall automatically be revoked, by the court, or as otherwise provided by law. (o) That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the 14th day of May,1943. This cause coming on to be heard and being heard before the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County, all Commissioners being present, at the courthouse in Lillirg ton,N.C•, on the affidavits of L.C.Allen, and others, after due notice to the respondent W.E.Bethune, the following facts were found: 1. That W.E.Bethune, trading as Bethune Bros., and selling beim at retail under license issued by Board of Commissioners of Harnett y, has allowed the premises with respect to which the license was issued, to be used disorderly and unlawfully, and has failed to carry out in good faith the purpcs es of the law pertaining to beverage control; and after hearing the sworn testimony of complainants and their witnesses, and the testimony of respondent and his witnesses, and examination of counsel representing the respective parties: It is considered ordered and adjudged that the retail beer license of W.E.
