09071942431 The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met in regular session Monday September the 7th,1942 at 10 :00 A.M. with J.B.Ennis,Chairman,A.A. Cameron, Ferd D.Jackson,L.R.Byrd and R.L.Pate present. Also present were H.C.Strickland, County Attorney and Inez Harrington,Clerk to the Board. The report of W.D.Harrington,Tax Collector was approved and ordered filed with the Clerk. The report of Inez Harrington,Register of Deeds was approved and ordered filed with the Clerk. The report of Lola OtQuinn,Delinquent Tax Collector was approved and ordered filed. The report of Howard Godwin,Clerk of Superior Court was approved and ordered filed. It is ordered that taxes due by Merle Pope on 82 acres of land in Averasboro Township for 1940 and prior years since 1931 be computed on a valuation of % -- $550, the acreage being 8 instead of 10, and the buildings having been burned- in 1932; and upon receipt of said taxes on said basis, with costs, that the judgment entered in the case of County Vs. Merle rope be cancelled. Be it resloved that, upon receipt by the County of Harnett of the sum of 391.07, representing all accrued costs and taxes for 1942 and 5 years prior thereto, less 362. net rent collected by the County from Mrs.Lettie U.Finch, that the County of Harnett quit -claim to Mrs. Lettie U.Finch the property described in y- Judgment #A -842, office of the Clerk of Superior Court of Harnett County, and the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners is authorized and directed to execute deed in the name of the County of Harnett and the Clerk will attest the same and affix the corporate seal thereto. Said sum being in satisfaction of the lein of taxes fro 1942 and all prior years. It is ordered that Z.A. & Mary McDougald be released of taxation in the amount of 3765. valuation for the year 1941 and 1942 on account of the burning of residence in November 1940. It is ordered that H E & B F Truelove be released of taxation for year 1941 in the amount of 3300. valuation on account of burning of house on property. The Board granted the request. Wilma Williams Welfare Supt. presented to the Board the request that Junius Jepetha H rper of Erwin be refjected and the case referred to Placement Agent of State &ommission of Blind. Be it Resolved that the County of Harnett convey to Sam P.Cannady, who has a quit -claim deed from his father and wife and brothers and sisters all right, title and interest which the county has in all property in the Town of Minn formerly owned by J R.Ca nady and wife and now owned by the County of Harnett and Town of Dunn upon said SamP.Cannadys complying in full with the terms of contract of purchase made through A.L. Newberry representing the County and Town of Dunn, and that the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners execute a joint deed with Town of Dunn,in the name of Harnett County conveying said property, which deed shall be attested by the Clerk to this Board. It is ordered that the valuation on residence listed to C.G.Colville in Duke Township be reduced in tax valuation in amount of $100. for year 1941. It is ordered that C.G.Colville be released in amount of $1.00 tax on dog for year 1941 account of error in listing. The Board accepted the resignation of Lee Burt McLean as insolvent Delinquent Tax Collector and tendered him thanks for service he has rendered. Upon Motion by L.R.Byrd, seconded by A A.Cameron all the County offices will be closed on Saturday at noon. The folloeling road petition was approved by the Board and ordered forwarded to the State Highway and Public Works Commission; to improve and add to State Highway System that certain road in Stewarts Creek Township, beginning at a point near the home of Mrs.L.D.Brock and runs northwardly by the homes of W.E.Temple, W.N.McDonald and others to a point on Highway No.210 at distance of approximately 2.7 miles. BE IT RESOLVED that the property once listed to Mrs.Addie Waddell, containing 255 acres of land,in Buckhorn township, described in Judgment No.A -1336, office of the Clerk of Superior Court of Harnett County, be conveyed to E.I.Waddell, upon payment to the County of Harnett 37.62; and the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners is hereby authorized and directed to execute proper deed in the name of the County of Harnett, and the Clerk attest the same and affix the corporate seal.
