The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County, met in a call meeting on
Monday, September 23, 1940 at 2:00 O'clock P.M. Those present were
Chairman J.B.Ennis, and Commissioners A.A.Cameron, R.L.Pate, Ferd D.Jackson.
Also County Attorney H.C.Strickland. Commissioner L.R.Byrd was absent.
The Report of County Land Sale Certificates in detail covering the year 1927
to and including those for the year 1938, together with the Audit Report, for
the period ended June 30, 1940, covering all County Funds (except those under
the jurisdiction of the Board of Education), was presented by Mr. H.C.Northrop,
CPA, and accepted by unanimous vote of the members of the Board.
BE IT RESOLVED that the investments (all bonds) shown in the Report of Audit
for the period ended June 30, 1940 totalling $10,500.00 par value, be
transferred to the Bond Fund, with the exception of Harrett County Gold Bond
No. 21, of the issue of January 1, 1926, due January 1 1940 (par value of
$1,000.00). (Reference "Schedule L -2" of Audit Report.)
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the cash balance of ?1.89, as shown in
"Exhibit L" of said Report, together with any additions wh'ch have accrued
since June 30, 1940, be also transferred to said Bond Fund.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Interfund Balance of 410,700.00 as shown in
"Exhibit L" of said Report due from the Bond Fund, be cancelled both as to the
Sinking Fund and the Bond Fund.
Unanimously adopted.
It is ordered that the County Auditor pay all bills contracted by the
County for Dunn Hospital, and pay balance to proper officer of Dunn Hospital Boar
It is hereby ordered that W.E.Hyland, Acting Auditor of Harnett County to
June 30, 1940, be allowed $150.00 (two - thirds of a month's salary) for his
services from July 1, thru July 20, 1940.
The Board recessed to reconvene at the call of the Chairman.
