04011940 (2)161 Board of Equalization and Review April 1, 1940 The members of the Board of Commissioners went into session as Harnett County Equalization and Review at 2:00 O'clock P.M.Monday,npril 1, 1940, after due advertisement as prescribed by law. Those present were Chairman J.B.nnis, and Commissioners A.A.Camero n, Ferd D.Jackson, L.R.Byrd, and R.L.Pate. Also Acting Tax Supervisor H.S.Freeman; (Clerk to the Board); and County Attorney H.C.Strickland. The following proceedings were had: The Board appointed Ferd D.Jackson and R.L.Pate with H.S.Freeman as committee to investigate the tax valuation of property of Mrs. N.yv.Barnes Estate, and property of H.Paul Strickland, in Averasboro Township. It 1s ordered that L.W.Williams in Stewart's Creek Township, be granted reduction of $210.00, because of burning of dwelling for the year 1940. It is ordered that D.H.Senter be allowed reductions of $1830.00 in Hectors Creek Township, and $1765.00 in Black River Township, for the year 1940, because timber was cut in September 1939. It is ordered that a tract of 33 acres of Dr.C.H.Sexton land in Neill's Creek Township, be reduced to 22 acres on account of survey having been made and the following valuations placed thereon: 11 acres @ $40.00 - $440.00 11 acres @ 4.00 45.00 Total 485.00 Mr.A.L.Newberry, having been appointed as a committee of one to approve the property of C.C.Butler in Averasboro Township, rendered his report and his recommendations as follows were adopted: East Broad Street (extended) one lot 672 x 300 feet $200.00 one seven -room dwelling 700.00 900.00 one lot 60 x 300 feet 140.00 one five -room house 400.00 540.00 It is ordered that James Matthews heirs in Hector's Creek Township, be allowed reduction of $175.00 for year 1939 and year 1940, on account of timber having been cut in 1939. It is ordered that J.C.Senter in Hector's Creek Township, be allowed reduction of 0125.00 for 1938 -39 and 1940, on account of timber having been cut.
