11071949NOVEMBER 1949: The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday Nov. 7th with all members present. The report of Howard Godwin C S C was approved and ordered filed. The report of Inez Harrington Register of Deeds was approved and ordered filed. The report of D. P. Ray, Jr. Tax Collector was approved and ordered filed. The report of L. B. McLean Veteran Service Officer was approved and ordered filed. The following road petitions was approved and ordered forwarded to State 'Highway. Commission. (1) That that road in Grove Township running from Coats to T. H. Williams home and known as the Williams road a dista'nce of .4 miles be opened up to connect with the urlington Road. (2) To lay off, open up, and prepare for travel a public road beginning at a point on the old stage of Telegraph Road in Harnett County and at or near the point where the neighborhood road enters or intersects the said stage Road and a short distance north of the residence of Herman Fish and thence easterly ans as of near the said neighborhood road over the lands df Cameron parties Ezrell Partin, Mildred Partin, Carl Partin et als. (3) In Stewart's Creek Township and Andersons Creek Township a road running from Archie A Autry's home on Highway 210 by J P McDonald and Mrs. Mollie Blalock to J. G. Layton's farm near Hill Murchison's a distance of two miles. Bond in amount of $1000.00 for Cullbert McDonald, Constable in Johnsonville Township was approved and ordered filed with C S C. MARYLAND CASUALTY COMPANY BALTIMORE KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That Cuthbert Clarence McDonald, as Principal (hereinafter called Principal), and the Maryland Casualty Company, a corporation of the State of Maryland, having its principal office in.the City of Baltimore, Maryland, as Surety (hereinafter called Surety), are held and firmly bound unto the Harnett County, North Carolina (hereinafter called Obligee) in the penalty of One Thousand and 00 /100 Dol]a rs (1,000.00); to the payment whereof,, well and truly to be made and done, the said Principal binds himself, his heirs, executors and administrators, and the said Surety binds itself, its successors and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents: The condition of the aforegoing obligation is such, that whereas, the said principal was appointed constable for the term beginning on the llth day of October 1950. Now, therefgre, if the said Principal shall, during the term of this bond, well and faithfully perform ell and singular the duties incumbent upon him by reason of his election or appointment to said office, except as hereinafter limited, and honestly account for all meonys coming into his hand, according to law, then this obligation shall be null and void; it is otherwise to be and remain in full foree and virtue. This Bond is executed by the Surety upon the following express condition, which shall be a condition precedent to the right of recovery hereunder; IT IS MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO that if the Surety shall so elect, this bond may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days' notice in writing to the said Obligee and this bond shall be deemed cancelled at the expiration of said thirty (30) days, the said Surety remaining liable for all or any act or acts covered by this bond, which may have been committed by the Principal up to the date of such cancellation, under tit terms, conditions and provisions of this bond, and the Surety shall, upon surrender of this bond and its release from all lability thereunder, refund the premium paid, less a pro rata part thereof, for the time this bond shall have been inforce. Carson Gregory moved seconded by Paul Tysinger that the statement in the amount of $275. presented by Therman C Ennis, Public Accountant, for the examination of the account of the Harnett County Tax Collector as of August 13, 1949 be approved and paid. Voting for Gregory, Tys'_nger, Fields voting against: Senter motion carried. J A Senter moved seconded by C G Fields that the bid of C J Hanna & Son Inc on lots 21 x 34 of M L Jackson property acquired by Harnett County under tax fore- closure be accepted and approved and the chairman be authorized to execute deed, attested by the Clerk Conveying the punts interest in said lots to C J Hanna and Son Inc upon the payment to the ornty of the sum of $399.00 the same representing 42% of the total purchase price, the County having only a 42% interest in said property with the remaining 52% being accured by Max E. McLeod. C. G. Fields moved seconded by Carson Gregory that The County Offices be closed on Armistice Day Nov. 11 and on Thanksgiving day Nov. 24. Motion carried. The Board adjourned to reconvene on Dec. 5th.
