10031949r38 OCT: 1949 The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met in a regular session on Monday October 3 at 10: A M with all members present. The Clerk to the Board and the County Attorney were also present. The report of Howard Godwin Clerk of Superior Court was approved and ordered filed. The report. of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds was approved and ordered filed. The report of D P Ray Jr Tax Collector was approved and ordered filed. The report of L B McLean Veteran Service Officer was approved and ordered filed. Insurance policy No 60 113933 with the Maryland Casualty Co issued to Administration offices of Harnett County was approved and ordered filed. The report of the grand jury was read and placed on file. The board ordered that the list takers for Harnett County for the years 1950 be paid the same salaries as they were paid for 1949 and that the books be kept out in the townships until Feb 15, 1950 and no longer. The state has agreed to pay 10¢ per farm for the farm census reports provided that the reports are satisfactory to the -State census authorities. 0 G Fields moved seconded by Carson Gregory that all the partitions for roads be accepted and placed on file, then considered for an additional of 2 3/10 miles to be added to the 6 7/10 miles of roads to be built in Harnett County by the State Highway in this year. THE FOLLOWING ROAD PARTITIONS WERE ACCEP PPM AND PLACED ON FILE. (1) for the construction and maintenance of a farm to market road from Theodor McLambs on the McLean Chappel Duncan McArtan road to the Old Wire Road a Walkers by the way of the old fire road. A distance of approximately two and one quarter (24) miles. (2) To construct or improve the road in Black River Township running from a a point north of Mrs L B Barbour's residence to the cross roads on the Angier Chalybeate Road at a point 2 miles west of Angier, known as the old Raleigh McAlister Road, covering a distance of approximately 1 3/4 miles. (21) For the construction and maintenance of a farm to market road from Alton Adams' on the McLean Chapel Duncan McArtan Road to the Old Fire road. A distance of approximately seven tenths mile. (4) Take over and maintain that certain road in Upper Little River Harnett County and Described as follows: Beginning at a point on that road leading from the Johnsonville road to a Northington road near the home of Dayton Brown and runs North to a point on that road leading from the Johnsonville road to Highway "21 near the home of F J McLean a distance of 9/10 miles. (5) To approve and recommend to the proper road authorities to maintain a road leading from Mrs Nannie Lee's Farm into Henry Howell Farm being 6/10 of one mile. (6) To construct or irmprove the road in Black River Township which runs from Highway 210 approximately 3/10 of a mile east of Angier and out of Angier in a northwesterly direction and known as the J C Smith and Alton Champion road. a Distance of 1 7/10 miles. (7) To construct or improve the road in Averasboro Township which runs from the Dunn Erw±n Highway to the Pleasant Grove Church a distance of 1 1/4 miles. (8) To improve that road reaching from the Ridge Road 1/2 miles north of Dallas Coats to 6/10 of a mile to the Oak ridge and the Coats Ferry road. The following road petitions were approved for all weather roads and ordered forwarded to State Highway and Public Works Commission. (1) To have placed the following road in a good all weather condition by hard - surfacing or black topping same, Beginning at the residence of Mrs W A Johnson in Buckhorn Township and running thence in a western direction for a distance of approximately one mile to the residence of Mr J F Arnold (2) That the said road be treated in order that it may be maintained as an allweather road. This road is located in Upper Little River Twp and intersects with the Herrington Road just north of the L,ttle River and runs about north 2.7 miles to the Johnsonville Road and crossing same continues north 2.3 miles to the McDougald Road, crossing this road and thence north 1.4 miles and intersecting with Highway 421. 539-' 1 1 (3) To have the road that intersects the Swann Station to Lillington Road to Angus A Camerona Via Southward Bruce Cameron Mayo Cameron Store J N McCormick and others to Olivia to Lillington Highway at Alton Thomas's home a distance of 2 and 3 tenths miles hardsurfaced. (4) To pave that road in Averasboro Township which runs from 301 highway at Miss Minnie Paul property to the old Fair Ground Road at Faison Barefoot store the length of 2 8/10 miles. (5) To make an all weather road of that road leading from near M W Brock on Layton Road four miles West of Bunnlevel and leads North in direction of Lillington by W E Temple's, W N McDonald and others to intersection at Felton Walkers; distance of 1 7/10 miles a direct farm to market road and two school buses, white and colored on this road each day through school period; then turning west by Mrphy McLean's place and Riley Moore into 210 Highway near McEverette Clayton a distance here of .6 mile John Aaron Senter moved that Harnett County purchase a boiler to heat the County home at a cost of $811. delivered and described as an Ideal "later Tube Boiler No SC 36 T 8 installed radiation of 2800 sq ft. Motion carried.
