040719491 1 489 MINUTES OF BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW FOR 1949 MARCH 21st 1949 The County Board of Commissioners convened and sat as a County Board of Equalization and Review for their first meeting of 1949 on March 21st. in the court - hour at Lillington, N. C. The meeting was called to order by the chairman of said Board,Mr. L. A. Tart, all members being present. Before entering upon their duties each member of the Board of Equalization and Review took and subscribed to the following oath and filed the same with the Clerk of the County Board of Commissioners: I do somenly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully discharge my duties as a member of the Board of Equalization and Review of Harnett County, North Carolina; and that I will not allow my actions as a member of said Board to be influenced by personal or political friendships or obligations. Berles C. Johnson, Clerk MARCH 29th 1949 The Board had very few cases to review, most of them due to the lack of understanding the procedure in handling such matters. The Board reduced an improvement charged to Godwin Building Supply, Averasboro Township to the amount of $7,000. to $5,570. After all complaints were heard and reviewed the Board adjourned to reconvene on March 29th. at 10:00 A. M. Bevies C. Johnson, Clerk MARCH 29th 1949 The County Board of Commissioners convened as a County Board of Equalization and Review for their second meeting of 1949 on March 29th. at 10:00 A. M. in the court house at Lillington, N. C. All Comrttissioners were present except Commissioner Senter. All complaints were heard and reviewed. One complaint was made by the A. A. McCormick, Heirs. The heirs stated that there was an excessieve amount of timber charged to said heirs in Barbecue and Anderson Creek Townships. The Board ordered that no change be made in values of said property for the year 1949. After all complaints were heard, the Board adjourned to reconvene on April 7th. fm the third and last meeting of said Board for the year 1949. Berles C. Johnson, Clerk APRIL 7th 1949 The County Board of Commissioners convened as a County Board of Equalization and Review for their third aril last meeting as an Equalization Board far 1949. This meeting was also held in the court house in Lillington, N. C. All Commissioners were present except Commissioner Paul Tysinger. All complaints were heard and reviewed. An improvement that was charged to,Mr. Joel Ennis in Grove Township at $5,000. was reduced by said Board to $4,000. All complaints having been heard and reviewed the Board of Equalization and Review adjourned fort he year 1949. Berles C. Johnson, Clerk.
