NORTH CAROLINA RESOLUTION HARNETT COUNTY "WHEREAS, it has beenmade known to the Board of Commissioners of the County of Harnett that a public hearing is to be held in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on September. 16, 1946 beginning at 10 o'clock A M as to the necessity for providing flood control on the Cape Fear River by broper dredging of the same, and WHE EAS, the property owners along the banks of Cape Fear River and its tributaries and the citizens generally of Harnett County are much interedted in the sUiaject of flood control and particularly as the hearing may relate to an improvement of the existing unsatisfacgory conditions which prevail along the Cape Fear River; and WHEREAS, recent floods which inundated the farmim g lands and pastures of the farmers and others in Harnett County along the Cape Fear River caused much damages ` and resulted in appeal& for relief to the governing officials of units in Harnett County, and it appears both necessary and imperative that steps'be taken to prevent recurrences of the many floods up on the lands along said River; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County that it is the sense of the Board that the people of Harnett Bounty should be acquainted with the fact that opportunity to be heard at Fayetteville on Monday Sept 16, 1946 at the Federal Court Robin, will be afforded them and that they should be so acquainted with said fact, so that they may appear and make known the damaging and dangerous conditions now existing with respect to the floods on the Cape Fear River; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Board of Commissioners unanimously approve of the proposal to dredge the Cape Fear River and to otherwise take all needed and proper seeps to effect safe and practical flood control of said River, all to the end that the safety of property and crops along its banks in Harnett County my no longer be jeopardized."
