09031945170 September 3. 1945 The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met in regular session on Monday, September 3, at 10 ;00 A. M. with all members present also present was H. C. Strick- land, County Attorney amd Inez Harrington Clerk of the Board. - It is ordered that, as the improvements to the building housing Dunn Clinic sufficently proper to require the expaiditure of the $450. appropriated by the county for such improvements in the opinion . of<the - accountant, the said sum be paid to the Dunn and Hargett County Health Clinic. The official Bond Of W. D. Harrington, Tax Collector, in the sum of $35000,00 was resubmitted to bond for consideration. It was considered approved and ordered recorded. Voting for approval and acceptance were Commissioner Ennis, Byrd, Cameron, Pate and Jackson MARYLAND CASUALTY COMPANY BALTIMORE KNOW ALL MEN,BY THESE PRESENTS, That William Dalrymple Harrington, Lillington, North Carolina as principal, (hereinafter called Principal) and the MARYLAND CASUALTY COMPANY, a corporation of the State of Maryland, having its principal Office in the City of Baltimore, Maryland as Surety, (hereinafter call the Surety) are held and firmly baund unto the State of North Carolina, for Benefit of Board Commissioners, Harnett County, North Carolina in the penalty of Thirty Five Thousand and ?00 /100 - Dollars (35,000.00) to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made and done the said Principal binds himself, his heirs, executors and administrators, and the said Surety binds itself, its successors and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents, THE CONDITION OF THE AFOREGOING OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that WHEREAS, the said Principal was appointed Harnett County,. Tax Collectbr for the term beginning.on the 1st day of July 1945, and ending on the 30th day of June 1946. NOW THEREFORE, if the said Principal shall, during the term of.this >bond,_well and faithfuliy, perform all and singular the duties incumbent upon him by reason of his appointment as said Harnett County Tax Collector, except as hereinafter limited, and honestly account for all moneys coming into his hand as said Harnett County Tax Collector, according to law, then this obligation shall be mull and void; it is otherwise to he and remain in full force and virtue. THIS BOND is executed by the Surety upon the following express conditions, which shall be conditions precedent to the right of recovery hereunder; IT IS MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD -AND AGREED BETWEEN -ALL PARTIES HERETO, that is the Surety shall so elect, this bond may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days notice in writing to the said Board of Commissioner, Harnett County, North Carolina 'and this bond shall be deemed cancelled at the expiration of said thirty(30) days, the said Surety remaining liable for all or any act or acts covered by this bond which may have been committed .by the Principal up to the date of such cancellation, under tte terms, conditions and provisions of this bond, and the Surety shall, upon surrender of: :this bond and its release from all liability thereunderm refund the premium paid, less a pro rata part thereof, for the time this bond shall have been in force, AND IT IS FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO, that the Surety shall not be loable to said Board of Commissioners, Harnett County, North Carolina, for any loss or losses resulting_by reason of the failure of the- said -Principal tocollect any portion or all taxes which he maybe chargeable to collect by reason of his election or appointment as said Harnett County -Tax Collector and that said Surety shall not be loable for failure of the said principal to take any bgal action to collect such taxes. AND IT IS FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD. AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL THE PARTIES HERETO, that the said Surety shall not be liable to said Board of Commissioners, Harnett County, North Carolina, for any losses resulting to said Board of Commissioner, Harnett County, North Carolina, by reason of any public moneys being now on general or specialdeposit or hereafter placed on general or special deposit by the said Princi with any bank, depository,or depositories, or by reason of the allowance to or accept - ance by said Principal of any interest thereon ;; any Law, Decision or Statute of the State of North Carolina or Ordinance of tte; said Board of Commissioners, Harnett County, North Carolina to the contrary notwithstanding. The following road petitions were presented, approved and ordered forwarded to the State Highway & Public Wooks Commission: (1) to maintain that certain road in Stewart's Creek Twonship leading from State Highway #210 at a point near the home of Everette Clayton and runs east into the road at a point near the home of R. E. Temple. This is the school bus route and is approximately 7/10 of a mile. (2) to tar and gravel a piece of road running from the East Erwin to South Erwin road to the old Dunn & Erwin Highway near Antioch Church. (3) to take over and maintain that certain road in Upper Little River Township beginning on Cool Springs - Mamers road at a point one mile north of Mamers and runs one mile east to theRaven Rock road passing the homes of M.
