MARYLAND CASUALITY COMPANY BALTIMORE KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, What Walter Lee Johnson, Lillington, North Carolina as Principal., (hereinafter called Principal), and the Maryland Casuality Company, a corpor- ation of the State of Maryland, having its Principal office in the City of Baltimore, Maryland, as Surety (hereinafter called Surety), are held and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina in the penalty of One 'Thousand and 00 /100 Dollars ($1,000.00 - -); to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made and done, the said Principal binds himself his heirs, executors and administrators, and the said Surety binds itself, its successors and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. THE CONDITION OF THE AFOHEGOIN3 OBLIGATION IS SUCH, THAT WHEREAS, the said Principal was elected or appointed County Surveyor for Harnett County, N. C. for the term beginning on the 4th day of December 1944, and ending on the first Monday in December 1946. NOW,THEREFORE, if the said Principal shall, during the term of this bond, well and faithfully perform all and singular the duties incumbent upon him by reason of his election or appointment as said County Surveyor for Harnett County, N. C., except as hereinafter limited, and honestly account for all moneys coming into his hands as said CountySurveyor for Harnett County, N. C. , according to law then this oblizati:,n shall be null and void ; it is otherwise to be and re- main in full force and virtue. THIS BOND is executed by`.the Surety upon the following express condition, which shall be a condition prededent to the right of recovery hereunder; IT IS MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO that if the Surety shall so elect, this bond may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days notice in writing to the said State of North Carolina and this bond shall be deem- ed cancelled at the expiration of said thirty (30) days, the said Surety re- maining liable for all or any acts covered by this bond, which may have been com- mitted by the Principal up to the date of such cancellation, under the terms, conditions and provisions of this bond, and the Surety shall, upon surrender of this bond and its release from all liability thereunder, refund the premium paid, less a pro rata part thereof, for the time this bond shall have been in force. A. Byrd road passing the homes of Mrs. Ed Thomas, G. L. Wilson, and Graham Patgerson a distance of approximately one and a fourth mile. Be it resolved that that property in the town 'of Dunn on East Edgerton Street formerly listed to W. T. Ryalsand acquired by Harnett County and the Town or Dunn at a tax foreclosure sale under judgement No. 1930 -A -928 be sold to W. W. Elliott and wife, Cassie Elliott for the sum of $350.00 and on the following terms $50.00 cash and not less than ten dollars per month until the unpaid balance of three hundred dollars and interest has been fully paid. The payments due and payable on the 25th day of each month. The first payment on this contract is due and pay- able on or before the 25th day of Janusry_1945. Miss Verna Stanley, District Agent of the State Home Demonstration department appeared before the Board of Commissioners and presented Miss Jean Pegram of Raleigh for consideration to fill the place left vacant by the re- signation of Miss Rebecca Wilson, Asst. 11omeDemonstration agent. the Board of Commissioners appointed Miss Jean Pegram to fill out the un- expired term of Miss Rebecca Wilson. Miss Pegram is to begin work February 1st, 1945. "hereas, the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners, the North Carolina Association of County Accountants, and the North Carolina Association of Tax Supervisors, has each passed a resolution recommending that the Tax Supervisors of the several counties be relieved of the duties of taking the Farm Cencus, and Whereas, it is the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Harnett county that the work of securing the Farm Cencus by the Tax Supervisors obstructs and delays the listing of taxes, and that appropriate and adequate legislation should be intreduced and inacted at the next session of the General Assembly of North Carolina to relieve the Tax Supervisor of this duty and expedite the work of listing taxes; Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioner -of Harnett county that said Board does hereby recommend that the Tax Supervisors of the several counties be relieved of the responsibility of taking the Farm Census as a part of the work of listing taxes and that appropriate legislation be enacted by the next session of the General Assembly of North Carolina to accomplish this purpose, and Be it further resolved, that a copy of this resolution be immediately trans - mitted to each representative from this county to the next sesssicn of the General Assembly of North Carolina.
