The Board of Commissioners met in a call session on Monday July 24,1944 at
10:00 A.M. with all members present R L Pate,Angus A.Cameron, Ferd D.Jackson, J.B.
Ennis, Chm. Henry Strickland County Attorney and Inez Harrington,Clerk to the Board.
It is ordered that an Insurance policy be written on boiler at County Home.
Mr. R.C.Oakley, formerly constable for Averasboro Township, having assumed a
new public office as police officer of Town of Angier, and it appearing that the
office of Averasboro Township constable is now vacant; and it further appearing
that Almond H.Ivey is a nominee for election this fall as Averasboro Township
constable:
It is ordered that Almond H.Ivey be and he hereby is appointed as Averasboro
Township Constable to fill the unexpired term of R.C.Oakley, and that he enter into
good bond with sufficient surety in the sum of $1000. for the faithful performance
of the duties of the office, to be approved by the board of County Commissioners.
MINUTES OF MEETING OF HARNELT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS HELD JULY 24,1944:
"Mr. H S Freeman, having resigned as County accountant and County Tax Super-
visor, and having agreed to serve in that capacity until August 1,1944; and Mr.J.
Earl Ward, of Dunn, having applied for the position and office of County Accountant
and Tax Supervisor and having satisfied the Board of Commissioners as to his
character, ability and accountancy experience:
It is ordered that J.Earl ward be and he hereby is appointed as Harnett
County Accountant and Tax Supervisor beginning August 1,1944, to fill the un-
expired term of Mr.H.S.Freeman, resigned, which term expires the 4th day of Dec.
1944, his compensation to be as now fixed.
It is further ordered that Mr. ward shall give proper corporate surety bond
in the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars, with sufficient surety, to be approved by the
Board."
