05011944 (2)71 The Harnett County Board of Equilization and Review met in its first meeting of the year on i.darch 13,1944 with the following members present; R.L.Pate,L.R. Byrd,Angus A.Caeron,Ferd D.Jackson and Chairman J.B.Ennis. Mr.Duncan C.Wilson appeared before the Board in the interest of Mr.Geo. Jeannette, requesting a review of the valuati n on the house and lot on East Broad street in the town of Dunn, formerly belonging to the B.J.Bell estate. The auditor was instructed to issue check refunding Mr. Jeannette on a valuation of $650.00 for the years 1940, 1941 and 1942. Mr.Wilson also appeared in the interest of Mr.D.T. Bass, the present owner of above property and the valuation was ordered reduced from $2,060.00 to $2,000.00 the year 1944. There being no further business before the Board a recess was ordered untill nine thirty o'cl ck A.M., March 20,1944. the for H.S.Freeman,Clerk The Harnett County Board of Equilization and Review held its second meeting of the year on March 20,1944, with the following members present; Ferd D.Jackson, L.R.Byrd,R.L.Pate and Chairman J.B.Ennis. It was ordered 'that five acres of land belonging to A.H. Bolton, in Neills Creek township, purchased from T.T.Lanier, be valued at $20.00 per acre. It was ordred t hat 765 acres of land in Barbecue township, belonging to Venable S.Baggett, be reduced from $17.50 to :x;15.00 per acre, and that release for the difference be issued. It was further ordered that penalty of $17.45 be released on account of lack of ownership at 1`sting time. There being no further business to come before tie Board the meeting was recessed unt-ill two o'clock P.,7.,April 3,1944 H.S.Freeman,Clerk The Harnett County Board of Equilization and Review met at two o'clock, April 3,1944 with the following members present; R.L.Pate, Ferd D.Jackson,Angust A Cameron,L.R.2yrd and Chairman J.B.Ennis. It was. ordered that L.C. & G.W.Isenhour be allowed a.reduction of $230.00 on the valuation of 205 acres of land in Johnsonville township. N.B.Handy & Co., was allowed a release of $590 valuation on one house and lot on the Jonesboro Road, Averasboro township, for the years 1938 and 1939, on account of the burning of the house. It was further ordered that, because of the fact that all of the property of N.B.Handy and Co.,in Averasboro township, was deeded to the Dunn Presbyterian Church on August 31,1939, release for taxes on a valuation of 41,330.60, for the year 1940, be issued. There being no further business the Board recessed subject to the call of the chairman. Mr.S.G.Howell appeared before the Board, stating that he several large tracts of land,from his holdins in Johnsonville requested a review on the valuation of the remainder. It was valuation be placed on the land and buildings, for the years follows: 18 acres cleared land @27.u0 500.00 600 acres waste land @ 3.40 2040.00 1672-- acres cut overldb 5.40 9030.00 all buildings 1200.00 Total 12770.00 had sold off township, and ordered that a 1943 and 1944, as No other citizens appearing and t`ere being no further business the Board adjourned since -die.
