0904195110 September 4th, 1951 The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday September 4th. at 10:30 A. M. with L. A. Tart, Chairman, R. L. Fate, B. P. Ingram, Worth Lee Byrd and C. G. Fields presents also present were the Auditor, the Attorney and the Clerk to the Board. The report of Robert Morgan C. S. C. was approved and ordered filed.' The report of D. P. Ray, Jr. Tax Collector was approved and ordered filed. The report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds was approved and ordered filed. The report of L. B. McLean, Veteran Service Officer was approved and ordered filed, Upon recommendation of the auditor a motion was made by Mr. R. L. Pate, seconded by Mr. W. L. Byrd that an Old Age Assistance voucher, # 214313 in the amount of fifteen dollars ($15.00) and dated 4 -1 -51 be charged into the O. A. A. Surplus account as it has been cashed through error. Upon motion of Commissioner Fields, seconded by Commissioner Byrd the County was authorized to convey its interest in that certain parcel of land acquired by Harnett County under Judgement # A 1574 to Mary Smith MoBryde, Dunn, N. C. for the sum of $96,17 cash. The Chairman is hereby directed to execute deed and Clerk to Board will attest same, The following Road - Petions were .:approved and ordered forwarded to State Highway and Public Highway Commission. (1) To take over as a part of the State Highway System that road beginning at Neill McFarland Residence on the McFarland Highway and leading south a distance of six tenths (0.6) of mile to intersection with the McDouglald Highway at or near John Pearsons, said road is U. S. Mail route and School Bus Road, with a lot of travel as a oonneotin link between said two Highways. (2) To hard surface and all weather treat the following portion of said Old River Road beginning at intersection of old River Road with State Highway No. 421 at or near the western edge of Town of Lillington and running thence North and Northwesterly via Alex White and Crossing Blacksmith Creek by Atkins land and T. R. Young Cameron Place and Fred Brown and M. T. Spears and Gilchrist property and A. A. Bethea Estate property by T. Thomas land to Cedar Rock Church to connect with the Collins Road at T. Themes place which is no* in precasts of being hard surface treated, a distance of about four miles. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, it has been called to the attention of the Harnett County Board of Commissioners that there is a heavey accumulation of Civil matters presently pending for trial in the Superior Court of Harnett County; And, WHEREAS, it appears that the regularly scheduled Civil Terms of Superior Court for Harnett County will not be sufficient to enable such civil matters to be reached for trial without undue delay, and that it is necessary to hold a special term of Civil Court in Harnett County for the dispatch of such civil actions; And, WHEREAS, the Harnett County Bar Association has, by resolution duly adopted, requested the Harnett County Board of Commisioners to request the Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court to cancel the second week of the November, 1951, Criminal Term of Harnett County Superior Court and gall a special tevmcof Civil Court for said week, and the Solicitor of the Fourth Judicial District has stated that the second week of the November, 1951 Criminal Term of Superior Court will not be needed for the trial of Criminal matters; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Commisioners of Harnett County that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina be, and he is hereby requested to cancel the second week_of the November, 1951, Criminal Teri of Harnett County Superior - Court and to set a special term of Civil Court at such time, and assign a Judge to hold such special term of Civil Court. Upon motion of Commissioner R. L. Pate, seconded by Commissioner Worth L.
