KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, THAT Duncan Patterson Ray, Jr, as Principal
(hereinafter called Principal) and the Maryland Casualty Company, a corporation of
the State of Maryland, having its principal office in the City of Baltimore,
Maryland, as Surety, (hereinafter called the Surety) are held and firmly bond unto
the Harnett County Board of Commissioners
Lillington, North Carolina
(hereinafter called Obligee) in the penalty of Thirty Five Thousand and no /100
Dollars ($35,000,00) to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made and done.
the said Principal binds himself, his heirs executors and administrators, and
the said Surety binds itself, its successors and assigns. jointly and severally,
firmly by these presents.
THE CONDITION OF THE AFOiiEGOING OBLIGATION 1S SUCH, that Whereas, the said
Principal was appointed Harnett County Tax Collector for the term beginning on the
1st day of July, 1959. and ending on the 30th day of June. 1960,
NOW, 'THEREFORE, if the said Principal shall, during the term of this bond, well
and faithfully perform all and singular the duties incumbent upon him by reason of
his election or appointment to said office, except as hereinafter limited, and
honestly account for all moneys coming into his hands, according to law, then tnis
obligation shall be null and void; it is otherwise to be and remain in full force and
virtue.
THIS BOND is executed by the Surety upon the following express condition, which
shall be conditions precedent to the right of recovery hereunder:
IT 1S MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO, that if
the Surety shall so elect, this bond may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days'
notice in writing to the said Obligee and this bond shall be deemed cancelled at the
expiration of said thirty (30) days, the said Surety remaining liable for all or any
act or acts covered by this bond which may have been - committed by the Principal
up the date of such cancellation under the term, conditions and provisions of tnis
bond, and the Surety shall, upon surrender of this bond and its release from all
liability thereunder, refund the premium paid, less a pro rata part thereof, for the
time this bond si'rall have been in force.
AND IT 1S FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO,
that the Surety shall not be liable to the said Obligee for any loss or losses result
ing by reason of the failure of the said Principal to collect any peption or all
taxes which he may be chargeable to collect by reason of his election or appointment
to said office and that said Surety shall not be liable for failure of the said
principal to take any legal action to collect such taxes.
AND IT 1S FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL THE PARTIES HERETO,
that the said Surety shall not be liable to the said Obligee for any losses resulting
to the said Obligee by reason of any public moneys being now on general or special
deposit or hereafter placed on general or special deposit by the said Principal, with
any bank, depository, or depositories, or by reaenn of the allowance to or accept-
ance by said Principal of any interest thereon, by Law, Decision, Statute or Ordinanc
to the contrary notsithstanding.

Commissioner Byrd moved, seconded by Commission Curran, that the Harnett
County Health Department be authorized to order 1000 doses of Salk Vaccine to be
used to aaccinate those persons who are unable to pay upon it!hejrisigning oath,
stating that they aee unable to pay. Motion carried./
Upon motion of Commissioner Byrd, seconded by Commissioner Currin, that contract
for Audit of the County Offices be given to Thurman Ennis, the cost not to exceed
$1600.00. Motion carried.
THE FOLLOWING ROAD PETITION WAS :APPROVED
To Grade and maintain that road in Barbecue Township which is 1.6 miles
(Petition given to W. H. Parrish for presentation)
Commissioner Byrd moved seconded by Commissioner Currin, that tax suits for
year 1956 against Garland Walters ( S D 2866) Black River Township and Jaynes
Aaron Holmes s D 2866 in Duke Township be non suited. Motion carried.
1959 Budget Resolution was presented to the Board -of Commissioners and
accepted on tentative basis. A copy is on file in the Register of Deeds
office.
On motion of Commissioner Byrd, seconded by Commfeeioner'Cgrrin, the board
voted unanimously to convey to Levander and - Carrie G. Melvin it interest in
the lands acquired in a tax foreclosure judgment SD 2572-A 1570 upon payment
to the county the sum of $ 390.00 the same representing taxes, penalties,
and court cost now due on said land and upon condition that the said Levander
and Carrie G. Melvin list the said lands for taxes for the year 1959 and pay
the taxes thereon.
The Chairman of the Board is hereby authorized to execute a deed to be
attested by the Clerk to the Board conveying the county's interest in that lot
on East Divine Street, Dunn N C. Averasboro Twp. to the said Levander and Carrie
G. Melvin.

Policeman be appointed on first Monday in December for District 3 to begin
his duties on January 1st. 1960. Motion carried.
