Stewart, Buie's ttreek, North Carolina, as Principal, and the Royal Exchange Assurance, a corporation duly organized and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and N"rthern Ireland, having its United States Branch at 111 John Street in the City of New York, and authorized to do business in the State of as Surety, are held and firmly bound unto Claude R. Moore, Sheriff for Harnett County, North Carolina, in the penalty of One Thousand and no /100. NOW, THEREFORE, the Condition of the Foregoing Obligation Is Such that if the said Principal shall well and truly perform all the duties of hiis said office or position, and shall pay over and account for all funds coming into his hands by vif'tue of his said office or position as required by law, then this obligation shall be null and void, otherwide it shall be and remain in full force. This Bond is executed and delivered to be effective only upon the following express conditions, which shall be conditions precedent to the right of recovery hereunder: First -- If the Surety shall so elect this bond may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days notice in writing to the Claude R. Moore, Sheriff Harnett County N. C.cand this bond shall be deemed cancelled at the expiration of said thirty (30) days, the Surety remaining liable for all acts covered by this bond, which may have been committed by the Principal up to the effective date of such cancella- tion, subject to the terms, conditions and provisions of this bond. Second: The Surety shall not be liable hereunder for any loss sustained by reason of the failure, suspension or restricted operation of any bank or banks, depository or depositories in which public moneys are now on general or special deposit or may hereafter be placed on general or special deposit by or on behalf of the said Principal, any law,decision, situate or ordinance to the contrary not- withstanding. Third: The liability under this bond shall commence on the 1st day of October, 1957 and the Surety shall in no event be liable in respect to any act or acts of the said Principal committed prior to the said date nor for any shortage existing prior to the said date, nor for funds or property used or applied towards any such shortage. Motion carried. The following road petitions were approved: (1) To pull up that road in Black River Township, which runs from Ray Adams home by Jake Reavis farm, D. L. Adams farm, Cadwell Adams farm, through Graham Howards farm a distance of z mile,!. Petition given to Mrs. Reavis and Mr. Howard for presentation 121 treat (2) To tar //that road in Wake and Harnett which runs from Fuquay- Duncan Highway to U S 401 north of Rawls Baptist Church and known as Old Fayetteville Highway a distance of 3 miles Petition mailed. (3) To widen and hard surface that road in Averasboro Township which runs from N C # 82 In easterly direct3 ©h to the hard surface road which runs from Dunn and Godwin a distance of 1 mile known as Chicora Road. Petition mailed. (4) To make all- weather road of that road in Anderson Creek Twp. which runs from Highway 210 near Homer Lewis Service Station to Raines Place a distance of 1+ miles. Petition mailed. (5) To hard surface that road in Upper Little River Township which runs from D. P. Cameron to Pee Dee road at J. A. Patterson's home a distance of 1 -8/10 miles. Petition mailed. The Board ordered that C. L. Wilkins, Lillington Township, be refunded $16.30 on tax valuation on 1952 Chevrolet Car on account of error in listing Upon motion of Commissioner Womble, seconded by Commissioner Currin, the Board by unanimous vote directed the Register of Deeds, the Tax Collector, the Clerk of Superior Court, the Clerk of Recorder's Court, the Sheriff, the tax ' Supervisor and the County Auditor, to each prepare and submit to this Board at its regular meeting in March a complete inventory of the records of each office to the end that proper action may be taken to provide for destruction of such records no longer needed. The destruction of such records to be carried out under the direc- tion of State Department of Archives and History as provided by law.
