SPECIAL MEETING OF THE HARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
CALL TO ORDER
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session
on Thursday, June 8, 1978, in the Commissioners Room, County Office
Building, Lillington, North Carolina, with the following members
Present: Chairman Jesse Alphin and Commissioners W. J. Cotton, Jr.,
Bill Shaw, M. H. Brock, and Lloyd Stewart. H. D. Carson, Jr., Clerk
to the Board was also present.
Chairman Jesse Alphin called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
BUDGET PRESENTATION The County Manager presented the proposed budget for the FY 1978 -75
to the Board. The following items were discussed and decisions made
1. The Board agreed that the following Capital Outlay requests be
granted:
A. Administration
B. Register of Deeds
C. County Extension Office
D. Elections
E. Planning and Development
F. Manpower

2. The Board indicated that $40,000 could be taken from the
contingency fund for the Harnett County Ambulance Service.
3. The Board agreed to allow a 1/3 merit increase to all county
personnel.
4. The Board agreed that $2,750 should be appropriated to the
Grass Roots Arts.
5. The Board agree5to allocate $1,500 to the Harnett Regional
Theatre.
6. It was also agreedby the Board to appropriate $10,000 to the
Capital Reserve Fund for the Harnett County Library.
DJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 11 p.m.
