The Harnett County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing regarding
proposed County Road Identification Plan on July 12,1988, in the County
Office Building, Lillington, North Carolina, with the following members
present: Rudy Collins, Mayo Smith, and Chairman Lloyd G. Stewart presiding.
Commissioners Shaw and Hudson were absent. Others present were: Dallas H.
Pope, County Manager; Vanessa W. Young, Clerk to the Board; and Kay S.
Blanchard, Recording Secretary.
Chairman Stewart called the public hearing to order at 7 p.m.
Dallas H. Pope, County Manager, explained the purpose of the public hearing
and introduced Nancy Roy and Kelly Best, Region "M" Staff who conducted the
study for the proposed road identification plan.
Nancy Roy of Region "M" Council of Governments, presented an overview of the
procedures used to complete the Road Identification Plan.
Chairman Stewart opened the hearing for public comments.
The following comments were received:
1. Margaret Olive requested that SR 1292 be named Obed Olive Road.
2. Jeanette Chabot requested that SR 1180 be named Pine Wood Road.
3. Donald Harrington requested that SR 1280 be named McArthur Road.
4. Doyle Harrington requested that SR 1230 be named McArtan Road.
5. Lois Holder requested that SR 1235 be named Henry Holder Road
6. Request was made that SR 1236 be named Adcock Road.
7. Kenneth Stewart requested that SR 1532 be named Oak Grove Church Road
8. Kenneth Stewart requested that SR 2000 be named Wade Stewart Circle
CLOSED PUB. HEARING There being no further comments, Chairman Stewart closed the public hearing at
7:55 p.m.
