SOCIAL SERVICES Mrs. Crews, Director of the Harnett County Department of Social REPORT Services, appeared before the Commissioners and stated that her primary purpose for coming before the Board today was to inform them of the expected overage that would probably occur in the Social Services Budget this fiscal year. Mrs. Crews explained that the County has already spent 56.96% of its allocation for A.F.D.C.; 60.44% of its allocation for A. A. & A. D.; 54.18% of its allocation for Medicaid; and 60.53% of its allocation for county initiated checks. Mrs. Crews explained that if the County continued to expend these budgets at the same rate, the total overage for these line items at the end of this fiscal year would be $105,131. This does not allow for any increased rate of usage of these programs. Following a discussion period of these budgets, the Board asked Mrs. Crews to reappraise her department to see if there is any way to cut back these expenditures.
