Minutes of Special Meeting with Local Legislators
October 8, 2001
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met Monday, October 8, 2001, in the
County Administration Building, 102 East Front Street, Lillington, North Carolina.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss current legislative issues with the County's
legislators.
Members present: Teddy J. Byrd, Chairman
Beatrice Bailey Hill, Vice Chairman
Dan B. Andrews
Walt Titchener
Tim McNeill
Legislators present: Senator Oscar Harris
Representative Don Davis
Staff present: Neil Emory, County Manager
Wm. A. (Tony) Wilder, Assistant County Manager
Kay S. Blanchard, Clerk to the Board
Chairman Byrd called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. and Senator Harris led the
invocation.
County manager Neil Emory led a discussion of current issues affecting Harnett
County. The most critical issues discussed included:
- Alternative Revenue Sources/Sales Tax
- Williams S. Lee Act
- Non Attainment Status/EPA
- Redistricting
- State Budget
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:20 a.m.
