Dear Sir/Madam:
I made an onsite visit to the above referenced residential construction site on Sept 18,
2009. The purpose of the visit was to examine the fill material and compaction that was
placed on the site for the residence slab.
The area filled was approximately 4- feet at the deepest point. The materials used and
the compaction procedure used was more than adequate to achieve the usual required
bearing pressure of 3,000 pounds per square foot. I also ran the hand -held penotrometer test
on several areas and got consistent reading of 3,000 pounds per square foot or better.
Based on the above information it is my opinion that the filled area will support the
live and dead loads associated with this area and meets or exceeds the requirements set forth
in the N.C. Building Code 2009 Edition.
