At the time of our visit, building pad construction and footing excavation were complete. Using a '/z inch diameter steel probe rod and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer in accordance with ASTM STP 399, ATC tested soils at bottom of footing elevation. In addition ATC'perfonned hand auger and DCP testing at the four corners of the proposed building. ATC performed DCP testing at 1-foot intervals down-to satisfactory residual soils or a maximum depth of 5 feet below, finish pad elevation. Test results, at areas and elevations tested, indicated that soils have sufficient bearing capacity to support a foundation designed fora net allowable bearing capacity of 2,000 pounds per square foot (psD, with exception of the back left corner of the footing. Results indicated 8'inches soft soils at the back left corner approximately 3feet each,direction. ATC recommended and observed the contractor, remove soils. The contractor placed extra concrete.
