Per site observation by Johnathan Hall on October 29, 2009, please note the following
structural recommendations and/or verifications at the above referenced location.
111p Roof Bearing: Upon observation a new addition was being added to the right side of the
existing house at the above referenced location. It was noted that the front left corner of the new
addition was over-framed above the existing house roof which was constructed of roof trusses spaced
24" o.c. At the new corner it was noted that the heel of the new (2)2x 10 hip was supported over the
said corner and blocked down with (3)studs to existing truss roof and supported on a 2x4 flat plate.
The stud support was located approximately 6" to the left side of an existing roof truss. The new hip
rafter was intermediately supported at a load bearing wall of the new addition located approximately
4'-0" behind the hips heel bearing location. The hip was supported at the wall with (2)2x4 studs
blocked solid from the bottom of the hip down through the second and first floor walls to a new 8"
foundation wall located in the crawl space.
Response: Be advised that the above described hip bearing onto the existing truss roof system as
installed is structurally acceptable and no further repair or reinforcement required.
In closing, I trust this letter fulfills your requirements at this time. Be advised that this letter and seal
applies only to the existing roof structural components mentioned in this letter. Should you have any
further questions please do not hesitate to call.
