At the time of our visit, building pad construction and footing excavation were complete. Using a % inch diameter steel probe rod and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer in accordance with ASTM STP 399, ATC tested soils at bottom of footing elevation. In addition ATC performed hand auger and DCP testing at the four comers of the proposed building. ATC performed DCP testing at 1-foot intervals down to satisfactory residual soils or a maximum depth of 5 feet below finish pad elevation. Results, at areas and elevations tested, indicated that soils are satisfactory to support a foundation designed for a net allowable bearing capacity of 2,000 pounds per square foot (psi), with exception of the front eight linear feet of the left side perimeter. ATC recommended and observed removal of approximately six inches of soft soils down to satisfactory material. Contractor may backfill with #57 washed stone or extra concrete.
