Re: Foundation Evaluation for Lot 73 Highgrove at Anderson Creek in Spring Lake, North Carolina

Dear Mr. Aiken,
ATC visited the above referenced site to observe and evaluate foundation soils for Lot 73 prior to
construction. At the time of our visit, building pad construction and footing excavation were complete.
Using a % inch diameter steel probe rod and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer in accordance with ASTM
STP 399, ATC tested soils at bottom of footing elevation. In addition ATC performed hand auger and DCP
testing at the four comers of the proposed building. ATC performed DCP testing at 1-foot intervals down to
satisfactory residual soils or a maximum depth of 5 feet below finish pad elevation.
Results, at areas and elevations tested, indicated that soils are satisfactory to support a foundation
designed for a net allowable bearing capacity of 2,000 pounds per square foot (psf)
