Re: Building Pad Evaluation for Lot 69 Highgrove at Anderson Creek in Fayetteville, North Carolina
ATC Project Number: 45.34028.0005
Dear Mr. Aiken,
ATC has visited the above referenced site to observe and evaluate soils for Lot 69 prior to construction.
At the time of our visit, building pad construction and footing excavation were complete.
Using a % inch diameter steel probe rod and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer in accordance with ASTM
STP 399, ATC tested soils at bottom of footing elevation. In addition ATC performed hand auger and DCP
testing at the four corners of the proposed building. ATC performed DCP testing at 1-foot intervals down to
satisfactory residual soils or a maximum depth of 5 feet below finish pad elevation.
Test results, at areas and elevations tested, indicated that soils have sufficient bearing capacity to
support a foundation designed for a net allowable bearing capacity of 2,000 pounds per square foot (psf)
with exception of the back left quadrant of the footing. Results indicated soft soils at the back left comer,
approximately 10 feet each direction. ATC recommended and observed the contractor remove 6 inches
soft soils. The contractor will place extra concrete.
