HARNETT COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES COUNCIL REQUEST FOR
ENHANCED 911 EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the Harnett County Emergency Services Council
was formed August 19, 1991, by the Harnett County Board of
Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Harnett County Emergency
Services Council is to advise the Harnett County Board of
Commissioners on matters involving emergency services; and
WHEREAS, during a regular meeting of the Harnett County
Emergency Services Council on April 6, 1992, all members
unanimously agreed that the County of Harnett should proceed
to establish an Enhanced 911 emergency response system; and
WHEREAS, the Harnett County Emergency Services Council
realizes a feasibility study should be conducted concerning
the establishment of an Enhanced 911 emergency response
system; and
WHEREAS, the Harnett County Emergency Services Council
requests a surcharge of $1.00 per line, per month, be
implemented forthwith according to North Carolina General
Statutes, Chapter 62 -A; and
WHEREAS, Harnett County Emergency Services Council
requests that the City of Dunn's Enhanced 911 target date of
implementation, July 1, 1993, should serve as a goal for the
County of Harnett.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Harnett County
Emergency Services Council encourages the Harnett County
Board of Commissioners to allow a feasibility study
concerning the establishment of an Enhanced 911 emergency
response system to serve Harnett County and that the County
of Harnett proceed forthwith to implement a $1.00 per line,
per month, charge allowed by North Carolina General Statutes
62 -A.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Harnett County
Emergency Services Council encourages the Harnett County
Board of Commissioners to use a target date of July 1, 1993,
for implementation thereby being totally committed to the
preservation of human life and property in Harnett County.
