Minutes of Special Meeting
(Budget Work Session)
May 8, 1997
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Thursday,
May 8, 1997, in the Commissioners Meeting Room, County Office Building,
Lillington, North Carolina.
Members present: Dan B. Andrews, Chairman
. Beatrice Bailey Hill, Vice Chairman
Joseph T. Bowden
Teddy J. Byrd
Walt Titchener
Staff present: Neil Emory, County Manager
Wm. A. (Tony) Wilder, Assistant County Manager
Vanessa W. Young, Finance Officer
Kay S. Blanchard, Clerk to the Board
Chairman Andrews called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. and recognized Neil
Emory, Budget Officer. Mr. Emory stated that the purpose of the special
meeting was to review proposed budget items for the F.Y. 97-98 Harnett County
Budget.
Budget items were reviewed in a work session format.
After polling of the Board by the Chairman, staff was instructed to prepare a
budget amendment to transfer $500,000 to Harnett County Schools and to prepare
a proposed joint resolution or memorandum of understanding between the Board
of Commissioners and the Board of Education concerning the role of each board.
The next work session will be held at the Harnett County Library on Tuesday,
May 13, at 11:00 am.
There being no further business, the Harnett County Board of Commissioners
special meeting, May 8, 1997 duly adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
