HARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS SPECIAL MEETING, DECEMBER 14, 1993
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on
Tuesday, December 14, 1993. The special session was a joint meeting
with the Board of Education to discuss means 0:: financing current
I school facility needs.
Members present: H. L. Sorrell, Jr., Chairman
Beatrice Bailey Hill, Vice-Chairman
Dan B. Andrews
Joseph T.Bowden
Walt Titchener
Staff present: Neil Emory, County Manager
Dwight W. Snow, County Attorney
Tony Wilder, Assistant County Manager
Vanessa W. Young, Finance Officer
Kay S. Blanchard, Recording Secretary
Chairman Sorrell called the meeting to order at 5 p.m. and
Commissioner Andrews offered the invocation.
OVERVIEW OF PROPOSED Ivo Wortman, Superintendent, Harnett County Schools, presented an
IMPROVEMENTS TO overview of proposed improvements to school facilities.
SCHOOL FACILITIES
After discussion, Commissioner Titchener moved that the Board of
Education proceed with the design phase of proposed school facilities
noted in Mr. Wortman's letter of November 30, 1993, and purchase
MOTION TO PROCEED property with possibility of future construction of new middle school
WITH DESIGN PHASE to serve Coats/Erwin. Commissioner Bowden seconded the motion and it
passed with a unanimous vote.
Neil Emory, County Manager, outlined the Capital project and action
required by both boards. A joint resolution will be prepared for
consideration by each board at their next regular meeting.
I There being no further business, the special joint meeting of the
ADJOURNMENT Harnett County Board of Commissioners and the Harnett County Board of
Education duly adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
