HARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS SPECIAL MEETING, SEPTEMBER 28, 1993
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on I
Tuesday, September 28, 1993. The meeting was a joint session with the
Board of Education and was held at the School Annex in Lillington,
North Carolina.
Members present: H. L. Sorrell, Jr. , Chairman
Beatrice Bailey Hill, Vice-Chairman
Dan B. Andrews
Joseph T. Bowden
Walt Titchener
Staff present: Neil Emory, County Manager
Tony Wilder, Assistant County Manager
Vanessa W. Young, Finance Officer
Kay S. Blanchard, Recording Secretary
Chairman So~rell called the Board of Commissioners meeting to order at
7:30 p.m. '
JOINT MEETING WITH Ivo Wortman, Superintendent, Harnett County Schools, briefed the group
BOARD OF EDUCATION TO
DISCUSS SCHOOL FACILITY on current school facility needs mentioning the population growth,
NEEDS particularly in the southern part of the County.
The two boards discussed means of financing new schools.
MOTION TO PURSUE Commissioner Titchener moved that the County Manager and the
FEDERAL MILITARY Superintendent meet in order to pursue federal military assistance for
ASSISTANCE development of new schools in the southern part of Harnett County.
Commissioner Hill seconded the motion and it passed with a unanimous
vote.
ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the Harnett County Board of I
Ccmmissioners special meeting, September 28, 1993, duly adjourned at
9:20 p.m.
